This week I have managed to catch a few episodes of MTV's new afternoon series, "My Own." Obsessed fans have the chance to audition contestants to be their 'very own' Omarion, Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, etc. Each contestant is asked trivial questions, and then three are chosen to perform as the celebrity the Fan desires to own. As cool as it sounds, its actually fall-on-the-floor hilarious. In my sincere need to make fun of nearly everything, and just to pester MTV employees, I'm thinking of writing in a few phony requests. Here's my ideas so far:

"MTV, I want My Own _______"

    a) Weird Al Yankovich
    b) Murdoc (of Gorillaz)
    c) Flavor Flav
    d) Liberace
    e) Any Member of GWAR

Any more suggestions would be appreciated. And who thinks the real Flavor Flav would actually show up? He's not doing much else. And Murdoc is a cartoon, for those who aren't familiar with Gorillaz (shame on you).

And any of you that have in fact sent MTV a picture of your ride in hopes that it will be pimped, here's your chance to confess.

P.S. -Happy FOURTH Anniversary to Me and Chelsea!!
P.S.S - That will make total sense only if you're Chelsea.

Holy crap: I saw that show, too. It was almost sad to watch those girls compete to be Avril Lavigne. "What I love so much about Avril," I paraphrase one of them saying, "is how original and unique she is, because I'm like that, too". Now let's put aside the utter "WHAT?!" of that statement and take a look at the girl dressed exactly like Miss Lavigne and touting the individuality of the both of them. Why, yes: I really do admire how different my clone is; it's an important trait in a double. But anyway.

You should totally campaign to get your own Murdoc. I would love to see a half hour of that show devoted solely to the programmers' reaction to that request. Hilarity would, without doubt, ensue. (Side note: Murdoc's my favourite, if I may speak of Gorillaz in such a boy band-y way.)

Best of luck in getting your own Liberace, though. I don't imagine half of MTV's core demographic even knows who he is anymore unless they're tuning into VH1 for I Love the '70s...and, even then, it's a long shot.

The Avril clone comment made me laugh very hard. Because you have such a good point! But I kinda wonder what happens to the winner after the show. Do they stay in touch? Does he actually expect to have her around as his own Avril? If so, thats pretty damn creepy. But I should very well ask for my own Murdoc (or 2D). Have you seen the short cartoons on MTV2 with the Gorillaz? They're hilarious. They usually run before or after one of their music vids, but sometimes its completely random, and leaves you with a "huh?" expression. And I'm having the time of my life trying to explain their dynamic to my mother.
