    CARRIE (1976) by Brian DePalma
    Cinderella gone bad.

Look at the stupendous photography and editing (both visual and sound) and examine what made CARRIE such a successful film. There are so many wonderful moments, pick and choose something to elaborate on.
What elements of horror were there? Perhaps comment on how EACH CHARACTER was developed and played a role in creating the mood and tone of the tale. How does blood and sex and God all play a role in this film?

The best horror takes our worst fears and sets them in an ordinary setting. Also, it makes us re-think what scares us and WHY.

CINDERELLA GONE BAD.

i loved this film. mainly because it takes watching almost the complete thing to find out that its a horror. ofcourse we all knew that it was a horror because its such a notorious film, but if u knew nothing of the movie while watching it, you would think that it was a typical highschool movie about an outcast with a special power whio finally feels happiness. the whole film feel like a dream. i think maybe because of all the one shot sequences. also the lighting, there was amazing lighting. the dance scene was awsome. the one shot spining thingy was incredible. i made us as an audience feel comforted and wonderfully peaceful.
i liked how the whole religon thing played in this film a lot. the closet where carrie was forced into by her mother was like a sanctuary to christ. the ironic thing was that carrie thought of it as hell. it was where she went when she was punished. and towards the end of the film, hell was describes through metaphores a whole lot. fire was like in every scene. the gym scene where everyone burned, the car "accident", the candels that filled the house, and then finally, the house sinking down, beneath the ground in flames. all these key factors was a foreshadow of what was to come for carrie.
the moms death. the mom died in an almost exact the jesus on the crucifix. although this scen was kinda expected, when you think about it, the whole time, the mom was a symbolism of what jesus was to carrie. she was scary and a tyrant, but he was what you went for when everything else screwed you over. i took this as King saying that religon is good, it comforts people and gives them hope, hope that things will get better, although it never works out.

Carrie was a different kind of horror that had this story inside of another story. Carrie was a Cinderella gone bad. There were a lot of great scenes that were shot like the beginning where she is in the shower and started bleeding. That was a great scene because it ends up happening again with the blood at her prom. Another scene that I liked was the prom scene where she is burning things and she is walking out of the building and the shot is of her leaving with all that fire right behind her and it's like her leaving and all of this destruction behind her. I like that fact that in that little room with the crucifix and then when she kills her mom she dies just like that crucifix and the hair and everything looks like a replica of it. The mom was so religous and she just happened to die the same way as her crucifix. The reason why this movie was so great and had this horror feeling to it was because it is something that kids feel close to because it is this teenager that doesn't fit in with all of the "popular" kids and she just keeps to herself. Carrie is like the girl from Welcome to the Dollhouse, but with superpowers. Another scene that showed how unpopular and how people didn't care about her was the principle scene because when she was in his office he kept getting her name wrong and didn't seem to care. Carrie's last name was white which could be because her mom is so religous and the archetype for white is pure. There are a lot of movies that were made based on the ideas of Carrie like the movies based on taking the lonely girl and turning her into prom Queen except in those movies she doesn't burn everything up. I liked Carrie and thought there were a lot of ideas in there.

Well carrie is the cinderlla tale. Carrie is Cinderlla of our times. So many characters in this film are the same characters in the original cinderella tale, to start carrie was cinderella, because she was an outcast and was made fun of and got picked on by people, the girls in her gym class are all like the stepsisters in the original tale the gym teacher was the fairy Godmother and the mom was like the stepmom of cinderella.
The sound of the movie was very important to the film bcuz it through you off alot. The sound and music were sarcastic if you will, bcuz of the way that it was put together and how many scenes contradict with the following sequence. like in the opening shot of the locker room and with very lovley music goin into the girls lockerroom, the shot of her showering with this relaxing music suddenly changes in tone, by only the music you could tell something changed in the scene in the tone is changed. It sound nice and like everything is wonderful until you see blood.
My favorite scene in the film is when they went to prom and they were dancing. Not the shot you said was great with the camera circling around them fatser and faster but the one where the camera switches off and on of them and how the music changes each time the camera changes. this film uses very old classic techniques of horror films. It uses the high pitch violens and you know somethings gonna happen. Now and day we take that as we know somethings gonna happen but i think this technique is very affective and adds alot of suspense and adds up fear in the audience. This story uses lots of stories within the stories bcuz of the cinderella story and the Bible, i think one of our worst fears as humans is to die. Death is portrayed in every horor film but what were scared of i think is dieing and thinking nothing is there. We are so scared that we need religions just to make us comfortable and make our rules to go to a better place. So we are scared to go to hell but still we sin, we know that somethings we do are bad and that whats scares us is we make ourselves think that it will comeback to us somehow and probably have in our subconscience that mean or bad thing we did and thats what scares us.

What made Carrie such a successful film was the fact that it DID take our worst fears and set them in an ordinary setting, in this case, prom. Our worst fears would probably be going to prom and making it the last night of your life, which people really go to prom to have a great time and make it a wonderful memory. Another thing that made this film successful was taking a nice, sweet film that everyone knows, in this case CINDERELLA, and twisting it and turning it into a horror film, making everything so wrong and not like we want it to turn out. They also threw in some elements of the bible and having special powers of the mind to control things.

A wonder moment i loved about this film was the moment when Carrie goes up on the stage to receive her crown as prom queen, they made it slow motion with nice music and sparkles and everything, but when it came to the point where you saw the antagonists, the music changed and you heard the deep cello instead of the nice soothing violin, and after Carrie has the best time of her life at prom, she gets a bucket of pig blood dumped on her whole body, and everyone just LAUGHS at her and POINTS which makes her upset and starts to close all the doors, locking everyone in the gym, and setting it on fire killing every single person there.

Elements of horror in this film were elements such as a stormy night, tele-kenisses powers, fire, blood, all of that. When you put all of that together, you get CARRIE. There you have Carrie trying to talk to her mom about going to prom in that stormy night, you have Carrie closing the gym doors and throwing knifes at her mom all with her brain, you have Carrie setting the whole gym on FIRE killing everyone, and you have Carrie in the beginning of the film starting her period and BLOOD all over the floor.

what maded carrie such a good horror film was that the main story was taken from a childrens movie . it was manipulated with a few twist to make it a horror film. the thing about this movie is that you dont even know it s a horror film until two thirds of the movie have already gone by.
there were a lot of good scenes in this movie. some stood out more than others like at the begining where carrie is in the shower . most of the scene is done in silent then with relaxing music .it also has this effect of fog which makes it seem like a dream. all this continues up until you see the blood then the music stops and you get screaming
the scene where they are dancing was also done very good . the camera started spining slowly and then getting faster . they also changed the music as the spining speed increased. the whole sequence was good . this scene actually got the audience a bit dizzy. this was a good horror film like no other

CARRIE WAS AN OLD BUT INTERESTING FILM TO WATCH! I ENJOYED THE MOVEMENTS OF THE CAMERA, IT WOULD GO IN SLOW MOTION AND HAVE THE LITTLE SLOW MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND WITH IT. What I hated is that the damn movie had to start with a shower scene of females, i mean wow, i didn't care to see that. umm what many fail to realize is that there is no violence shown in this movie until a whole hour into the film, which really keeps the mind in a blank on why is this a horror film? Other than that, I really liked it, it had the little Cinderella twist to it and the ending was very crazy!

To me it was the story that really set the tone, the quiet picked on girl with the deep religious "freak" of a mother that really creates her child to be quiet and weird. Not until high school she expereiences her first period and just goes crazy at the sight of blood. I think the scene when carries gets doused in pig blood was just funny in a bad way. I mean you saw how she reacts to the little blood that every girl expects and now a bucket full of blood spills on her in front of big group of people. You get the feeling you know what happens but instead of taking out on the culprits she decides its everyones fault and becomes psycho.

You have carrie which is just like cinderella but way more mistreated in a modern world. The girls at school who represent cinderella's step sisters are way more vile and relentless in their evil actions. Her mother who is like the evil step mother abuses her in a more religious way. Last is the gym teacher who claims the character of the fairy Godmother and helps carrie through her struggles.

I think everyone had a fear of getting embarrased in front of a lot of people and Carrie was no exception and she went ballastic after that happened.

i liked this movie i thought that it was pretty kool. i didnt really think it was scary but i enjoyed it alot. what i really liked about the film was all the forshadow like the scene when she goes in to the little room and starts praying to the little crucifix and at the end the mom that made her go in to this little room is in the same position as the crucifix. also in the begining when she has her first period and all the blood is there and all the girls start laugh at her and throwing things at her and then it happens again at the prom when she is covered in pigs blood. i think that the director does this well i didnt realize it was forshadow until i really started to think about it. one scene that i really liked but was kinda long was when they were at prom and you know that something bad is going to happen and the girl that is helping carrie out is their and the camera follows the rope that is connected to the bucket of pigs blood and its following it really slow and the music is slow to and your just sitting their waiting for it to happen. i think that the director does this to keep you in suspense and to let the scene build up so when it does happen it makes you really feel what just happened. the last scene is really great to just when you think the movie is over the hand pops out and leaves you with that one last scare.

Oh gosh... I absolutely LOVED the scene when Carrie uses her telepathy to send those knives and other sharp objects into her mother's body one by one... and of course the last image of that scene... which is the mom in the closet jesus' position. Aiyeeee, you have no idea how chilling that image is for me, it seriously creeps me out so much. I don't know why exactly it scares me so much, but I guess the idea of having the mom portray jesus christ in such a horrific way is sort of mocking (to jesus or god, i don't know) in a way because it makes the religion appear... well... evil. I'm still in between being a believer and an analyst of the religion, so I suppose that's why it has such a strange effect on me, and I have to admit that I've always been afraid of religious figures, I don't know why but yeah... any picture or statuette of say, Jesus or the Virgin Mary or any saint... cannot last in my room for some reason, I just get scared... it's the eyes... and yes, the Mom's eyes were open when she died RIGHT? aha!

Okay, okay, my favorite scene... the very END when the girl is angelically headed for Carrie's house, more like, it's remains, wearing this beautful white dress with flowers... and kneels right in front of the sign that said "Carrie burn in hell" on top of... was it "Carrie White's House"? while... there is tranquil music that leads us to think that it would be a happy ending plays in the background... and suddenly... unexpectedly Carrie's hand pops out and grabs hers... And we see her back in bed screaming like there's no tomorrow in the hands of her mother... now that's a way to make an ending! I had nothing significant to point out, I just wanted to mention the ending because it was brilliant!

OMIGOSH... I don't think this movie would have been as scary as it is if one character went missing, especially the mom! She always was the scarier part of the film since she forced her religion onto others in such a demeaning manner and with that hysterically determined face where she wasn't wanted to begin with! And the way she is with her daughter, so unforgiving, demanding, and forceful... made it a bit easy to predict that Carrie would eventually bring the weight of power from her mother into her hands/head. And then the teacher that gave Carrie this sense of security only to laugh at her in the end, OOOOOOOOOoo what a.. yeah. I actually applaud Carrie for going crazy on all of them, after building up all those feelings of pain, humiliation, and such, one cannot blame her for blowing up like that. And the girl who was a part of the crowd of girls that threw tampons at Carrie, who would have known that she'd end up helping her at the end, oh and THE ENDING OMG! Hmm... I sense a lot of personality switches...

Sex is a sin, right? And women get monthly menstruations, which does not necessarily indicate loss of virginity, but it is how Carrie's mother takes it. Okay, furthermore, when a girl has sex for the first time, blood is shed too... but yeah that is all confused by mommy dearest who is a devout catholic/christian... I can't really explain... but it all loops together to make this wonderful film!

This film has always been one of my favorites, I think mainly because no matter how old this film maybe, it still deals with the high school loner, in every school there is that one person. This particular thought of high school makes this film successful, dealing with high school mainly. One particular moment is the volleyball court scene, everyone knowing who to hit the ball to, and then getting mad and picking on that one particular loner. One thing that I noticed was how the camera started off above all the girls, blending them all in, then floating to Carrie, not knowing who she is at first. I love how in the beginning of the film, it takes a while to figure out that Carrie is the girl who is picked on, just thinking that she is a girl that is bad at volleyball. I also love how this film isn’t really horror, I’m used to seeing a killing in the first five minutes, but in this film the killing wasn’t till the end.

The photography and the color and sound was something amazing, first off the photography was amazing, the way the camera hovered and moved, it just made the film go smoother. One scene that explained this concept was the locker room scene, how the camera never cuts, it just floats throughout the locker room. Another scene would be that prom scene, how the camera spinned as the two danced, and how it kept moving faster and faster, to get the feeling of how she felt. Though one thing that I didn’t know was that it was a dream, now that I look back on it, the fogginess of the film should have been an awakening. Color was another that made this film what it is Red was an important color; it showed un pure, and sin, to Carries’ mother, that’s what she thought of it. One scene would be Carries’ being not even locked in the closest, but having to pray for forgiveness, even though she didn’t do anything. Sound was another thing that was focused throughout the film, the sounds was usual what was around that particular character, the cars going by, the kids screaming in the hallway, or anything regular and typical.

Sex, blood and God played an important role throughout this film, the main focuses. Just mainly the major sins, Carries’ mother not wanting Carrie exposed to what she was exposed to, wanting her to live sin free, but yet having her know that that is impossible. I believe that the Bible was a comfort to her, letting her be in control, the power that was given to her above others, though she just used it too far to her advantage. All in all this film just showed the side of what high school really is, just behind the scenes.

This film was so different from any other Cinderella movie. The way that the filmmaker started the movie off was really different because all the other films take forever to get to the horrible scene. The scene where they are at the girls locker room seems to be a dream because of the mist and because its something that I guess every girl fears to happen during our school years.
In about every high school movie that involves a prom something bad always has to happen, and most of the time it happens to the outsider. I don't get it because prom is never anything like that.
The scene that stood out was the one where they are on the dance floor and the camera starts spinning, it was uniqe but to tell you the truth it got me dizzy after a while. But it was still the best scene in the movie.
Through out the film I thought that the girl that told her boyfriend to take Carrie to the prom was just setting everything up so something could go bad at prom, but actually she really felt bad for her and tried to help her.
I guess we all know that Carries' mom was crazy, but I don't understand how she wouldn't let Carrie do anything. I thought it was funny when her mom told Carrie " Take off the dress and we can burn it together" how can her own mom tell her that right before prom.
Blood played a big role in this film because the film is started off with blood and in the middle of the movie there is another scene with blood, and at the end there is another blood scene. Even though they are all different types of blood it was still involved.
God in this film was taken too seriously, what I mean is that it is okay for someone to believe in god but Carries' mom just over did it.

THE MOVIE CARRIE BY BRIAN DEPALMA WAS A GOOD FILM. THE PLOT IN THIS STORY WAS A GOOD BECAUSE IT WAS DIFFEERENT FROM OTHER FILMS. THE EDITING IN THIS FILM WAS ALSO GOOD BECAUSE THE WAY THE FILMS WHERE PUT TOGETHER EVERY SCENE AND SHOT BY SHOT EWAS GOOD BECAUSE IT HAD SOME GOOD EFECTS WHEN SOME CLOSEUP SHOTS WHEWRE SHOWN THE MOVIE LOOKED MORE SUSPENSEFUL.THE DIRECTOR WAS PROBABLY TRYING TO ACHIVE CREATING REALITY.

THE STRUCTURE OIN THIS FILM THE WWAY IT WAS SHAPED WAS ALSO PRETTY GOOD IT LOOKED ORGANIZED AND COOL. THE PHOTOGRAPHY IN THIS FILM WAS ALSO GOOD SPECIALLY THE BLOOD AND FLAME SCENES THEY LOOKED REALLY REALISTIC ANND NASTY. THE TONE OF THIS FILM WAS PRETTY COOL IT HAD A FUNNY DUMB SAD GLOOMY TYPE OF TONE . WELL THATS ALL I GOT TO SAY ONE OF MY FAVORITE SCENES FROM THE MOVIE WOULD BE THE LAST ENDING SCENE WHERE THE HAND OUT OF NO WHERE POPS OUT.

Carrie was a classic horror film with original sound and picture. The great thing about this film was that special effects weren't used as much. The colors were dark and the music was very frightening it fit perfect to the scenes of the film. the story was a cinderella movie gone wrong it was pretty intense once they spilt the blood on Carrie at prom it was like demons rose to help destroy the ones messing with Carrie. The types of elements of horror such as the mom who was absessed with religion taking it to the next level gave a creepy vibe, and the girls in gym class who were mean to Carrie also played a huge role for hating her and creating this soon to become massacre.
Blood plays the role of terror once you see someone covered in blood it's pretty scary from the scene of Carrie covered in it. Sex plays the role of Carrie going through some stages experiencing new things in life and by Carries date trying to hit on her just makes Carrie go crazy I'd say if he would of never invited Carrie to prom this disaster would of never happend. God plays the master role in this film because thats what it deals with the mother casting spells as it seemed and going insane begging God for forgivness. Objects flying through the air is also a sign of God i'd say or perhaps even the devil who knows it's all a mystery to me.
This was an awesome film different from all the new school ones it's a classic horror film that would be showing in years to come such great film work by the director.

okay when you said we were going to watch carrie i was really not happy. i watched this film before when i was really young and didnt like it for some reason, but after being trained i guess you would call it by mr. leibner i really liked it this time. i guess i never really just paid attention to the movie before. the part that i really liked and am going to talk about was the part with the jesus i think it was so great how the director had the jesus in the closet in the same pose as the mom when she got killed. i think it showed the mom's strong religous beliefs. i liked how it never really showed that and pointed it out but if you paied closer attention you would have realized that. i also liked how when carrie was winning the prom queen it focused on major points which were the bucket and rope, the kids going to pull it, carrie, and the teacher watching that one girl. i liked how the director flashed from one to the other and kept doing this until they finally dropped the bucket on carrie. ialso like the dancing scene it was just as leibner said it showed how she was heisitant at first to dance but after loosening up the camera started to spin around them so much faster and faster until she was as lost in the moment as we were.so after watching this film again i really liked it and i cant see why i didnt before.

this movie was really good, i mean even though it was low budget... the filming and photography was brilliant. i believe that what made carrie such a successful film was it had the cinderella theme going on. i mean, it may not be obvious to the unseen eye, but you see characters that resemble the characters in cinderella. the gym coach as the fairy godmother who makes carrie feel like she actually belongs in that school, the teenage girls as her stepsisters who have done nothing but torment her throughout her high school career, her mother as the stepmother who forbids her to do anything even to the prom, tommy as the handsome prince who makes her dreams come true. and not only did it have this cinderella feel but it had that horror sense in it. it shows that not everything is as beautiful as it seems and not everything is dandy. that things can go horribly wrong. not only that but there are allusions to this film, cinderella for one and the other is to the bible. depalma uses stories in the bible such as isacc and abraham and the sins of man which adam and eve burdened us with when they ate from the forbidden tree.

there are so many moments in carrie that i loved... but the one that caught my attention was when carrie was announced prom queen and tommy for prom king. everything was in slow motion and the filmmaker takes you to what carrie is feeling as well. overwhelmed that something like this is happening to her and is it real? is she really prom queen? is she really with this handsome guy at prom? i mean, you as the audience are experiencing the same feelings as carrie. and the music in the background was just wonderful. as carrie slowly walks, this soothing melody plays... that song in cinderella... a dream is a wish your heart makes. the dream of fitting in and being accepted by everyone and not being ridiculed any longer. her dream finally came true. and then the soothing melodic music fades away and then you see billy and chris under the stage awaiting for carrie to reach her spot on the stage so that they can pull the rope. the music is not sharp and no longer a happy song, but yet that scheming song... when something bad is about to happen. then it transitioned to the melodic music again. that whole sequence was just brilliant.

i believe the elements of horror that was there was the ordinary setting that the filmmaker shot the film. i mean, the high school scene and how the people that you put into exile and ridicule every day for the rest of their high school career will come back with revenge to bite you back in the ass. with carrie, she murdered every single person that was in that gym that night because she saw them "laughing" at her... in her eyes she sees it that way. and the other horror element that the filmmaker used was the typical creepy house that you wouldn't think about passing by as you would walk home. carrie's house stood out from the rest of the houses just like her. who would really want to pass by a house that gives you the hibbie geebies.

the gym teacher played a big role in helping shape carrie to be more social by persuading her to go to prom and actually talking to kids and not isolating herself like she always does. the gift that the gym teacher gave carrie was that courage to go to prom and not be so afraid because there is nothing to be afraid of. and then the teenage girls and her mother helped in making that scary mood of carrie going insane becuase of the things they have done to her. they were the ones that was crushing her dream of not being able to belong. but her prince charming tommy made the whole experience all worthwhile. god played a role in this because in the end, the mom had to decide whether or not to sacrifice carrie just like abraham and isaac did. but in abraham's case, he was being tested. where he stands in his faith and if he is obedient to god's orders. but the reason why carrie's mom wanted to kill was she powers that are not meant for good and carrie is using it in a bad way. for her own sake and not for the sake of others. sex plays a role in this film when carrie was in the shower and as she slowly washes herself, there is that symbolism of sex. as she gently washed every inch of her body... you see what the filmmaker is trying to do. the sex mood as she carrie is by herself in the shower. and the then the blood when she figures out that she began her menstrual period. you see the blood rushing down her leg. and towards the end of the movie, the filmmaker does this scene again. carrie washing off the blood all over her body. it seemed that she wanted to wash away all the sins... the blood.. that was all on her. to go back and take it all away.

i think that this movie did a great job in playing the horror of our worst fears because being in high school, we already have a difficult time adjusting to the change from middle school to high school. and then meeting new friends and teachers and fitting in,etc. there are just so many things you have to get used to and then the teenage girls add on to the stress by making fun of carrie. and it just goes to show you that even though you think that you're not hurting anyone and that whatever you're doing is just for the fun of it... think again. because you are hurting someone. not eveything is fun and games. because however you treat somebody, how they will treat you, it will be worse. karma will come bite you in the butt. and its going hurt more than you hurt the person... might even result to you dying like what happened to the people that were laughing at carrie at her prom.

this film is great because it has virtually no cuts and the imaging is all but not alot of annimation or fiction scenes . Carrie is the typical quite girl that does all her work and has no social life because she is really shy and every body teases her. she is gifted and she is forced to use here powers for anger this is were they show the horror by filming carrie in a 360degree angle to get her looking horrible it helps alot they film ther love connection scene in a 360degree angle as well to show that t the connection is there and it is really scary

CARRIE is such an amazing film!!! i loved how Brian De Palma used religion in the movie...Carrie had this mom that was outrageusly wild about god.....and he gave the filmthis feelinglike ...ohhh wow....god is scary..religion is scary. it was great, i also enjoyed the photography in this film. i truly enjoyed the way the colors looked through the camara, for example the very first scene in the movie when Carrie was in the shower and the camara was going towards her and we see this floaty, blury, almost cloudy motion to the camara it was fabuolous. the firs scene was very good, Carrie was taking a shower after the game, she was calmly enjoying her shower .....the camara follows the motion of carrie and once she begins rubbin the soap on her leg we see blood come out...and thats where Carrie goe crazy crying for help and all those girls are just treating her like a psycho and they make fun of her...and blablabla....those girsl were total BITCHES (excuse myfrench)
In this fim there was this particular scene in which i totally completely fell in love with....the scene at prom when carrie was dancing with her date!!!!!!!! wow!!!!!!!!! they start dancing slowly since carrie can't really dance..but once carrie begins to feel the music we can see that shes having fun shes laughing hes laughing and they begin to spin slowly and the light was just above them and they're still spinning just faster .....i loved that scene..at first i wasnt sure who was spinnin i thought it was actually carrie and her date...later you expalined it was the camara and i was like woowowoow!! that was the camara..i was very surprised!!! and dizzy....
this film by Brian Depalma was a great film it had great photography and amazing scenes. i fell in love with the floaty cloudy type of feeling that the camara used in this film.this one wasnt all that creepy!!! yay!!!

THE MOVIE CARRIE WAS A GOOD HORROR MOVIE HOW IT WAS BACK IN THE DAY AND HOW IT WAS PUT TOGETHER.THE REMAKE OF THIS MOVIE CANT COMPARE TO THIS ONE.IT WAS SAD HOW SHE WAS GETTING PICKED ON BY ALL THOSE PEOPLE . MUSIC PLAYED A BIG ROLE IN THE FILM HOW AT FIRST EVERTHING WAS HAPPY AND NICE SOUND WAS PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT WOULD CHANGE TO LOUD SCARY TYPE OF NOISE.LIKE WHEN CARRIE WON THE PROM KING AND GUEEN AND EVERTHING WAS HAPPY BUT AS SOON THAT BUCKET OF BLOOD DROP ON HER EVERTHING TURN CRAZY .A OTHER GOOD SCENE THAT WAS WELL PUT TOGETHER WAS WHEN CARRIE AND HER DATE WAS DANCEING IN CIRCLING AROUND AND IT WOULD GO FASTER AND FASTER..OVER ALL THIS MOVIE WAS A COOL HORROR FILM.

If You've Got A Taste For Terror... Take Carrie To The Prom.

Carrie White is a shy young girl who doesn't make friends easily. After her class mates taunt her about her horrified reaction to her totally unexpected first period one of them takes pity on her and gets Tommy Ross, her boyfriend and class hunk to invite Carrie to the senior prom. Meanwhile another girl who has been banned from the prom for her continued aggressive behavior is not as forgiving and plans a trick to embarrass Carrie in front of the whole school. What she doesn't realize is that Carrie is ... gifted, and you really don't want to get her angry.

With her the onset of her menstrual cycle, her dormant powers of telekinesis suddenly wake and cannot be controlled anymore than her newly awakened raging hormones can be. Carrie is not so much a horror film as it is a psychological one. The human mind is capable of horrors that no movie camera or special effects crew can reproduce, and the abused psyche is a monster that no one wants to see unleashed. When Carrie was sad, you were sad. When the other kids ridiculed her, you felt like you wanted to kill the kids. When she smiled, you smiled. Emotions that raw couldn't come from just any movie.

The prom scene has got to be one of the most memorable scenes from a horror movie. The reddish tint was amazing. This film has a very haunting tone. The performances in the film are quite convincing in showing the cruel and nasty nature that teens who are outsiders go through every day of their life. Carrie White is portrayed in a sympathetic light whose hidden feelings of anger can be understandable.

Carrie is introduced in the film as a shy, odd-looking, bland girl. Before the prank, she beams and smiles and she is beautiful. The change is truly remarkable. After the prank, well, she is pretty scary. All these attributes are contained perfectly within Carries appearance and acting. It's a shame we don't see her in more movies.
