YOUR bands on MTV.
alllright.this is probably gonna be ended or something. But I thought it was an interesting start for a conversation. so sue me if im wrong ;]
what do YOU do when your favorite "emo" (if you will..) band becomes the greatest thing & more mainstream. Like, there are loads of people that dug GC before they made it big. And then the preppies took it over all like 'LyK oMg. GeE cEe ArE sO hoTt. I waNt BeNjI' and now if you say to some people that you like GC they think you're a poser. I was searching for a picture of brand new for a layout & such and found a picture.. at mtv.com and that made me upset. Times infinity. And I'm all against the whole mainstream and mtv thing just cause it's way more of a personal thing with music if there arent hundreds of billions people out there listening to the same thing as YOU. So what im getting at.. is for all the people who paste up Brand New Lyrics and Dashboard and such.. If they become as popular as say GC have.. do you think that YOU're gonna dislike them cause of it? I suppose it was a stupid topic, but I'm torn between a few things here ;x that is all.

	I honestly don't care if some bands I like go mainstream. It's good that they became sucessful and widely recognized for their talents. However, if a band changes it's style to "fit in" or sell more albums then that pisses me off. <33liz (Reply to this) (Thread)

	If the bands I like go mainstream I wouldn't stop listening to them just because of that. only if they started to change their stuff and made it so it wasn't so much themselves..... 	haha side note...i've liked gc for 3 yrs now, seen play 5 times. and i've always wanted benji....hahahahah he's just pretty. but if i only liked gc cuz of his looks, then i'd be ridiculous. but i also don't like where gc went with the new album. i waited over 2 yrs for it to come out, and was sorely dissappointed with its results shannon (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

i personally thing GC has always not been very good. i listen to them admittedly but im not a big fan. so i guess i dont mind if brand new or saves the day or anything else becomes mainstream, i will still like them... and brand new is a little less bland than GC because they dont make generic rock anthems.. i mean, theyre a little more original, so i think their fan base will still be a little smaller than that of GC. 	If you like a band, like them. Who cares if they become "mainstream" and whatnot. That only means their talent is getting recognized by people, which is awesome. It only begins to matter when the band starts changing their style to make more money. (Reply to this) (Thread)
