Herein lies a rant that will be of no interest to anybody unless you watch Strictly Come Dancing or X Factor.

The people voting for Strictly Come Dancing and X Factor really need their heads examined. Seriously! Actually no, sorry. The people voting for John Sargeant on Strictly Come Dancing and Daniel on X Factor really need their heads examined.

Rachel Stevens absolutely didn't belong in the dance off on Strictly, and she looked really upset. My heart went out to her. I'm glad that Heather went though (sorry Danielle!). If John Sargeant wasn't going this week, Heather would have been my next choice. But it'll be criminal if John Sargeant doesn't go next week. The only people left to go in his place all have a shot at making it to the final (some less than others, but I think the race is wide open). John Sargeant is lovely, but it's getting ridiculous that he stayed in this long. Seriously people! I do vote for Strictly, but not normally till nearer the end when I have a better idea of who I want to win. Even if I did vote now, it probably wouldn't make a difference because I can only vote for one person to stay, not for someone to go. All the people voting for John Sargeant to stay need to sort themselves out. Yes, it's a public vote, but I bet there are just as many, if not more, people who want John Sargeant out than in. If they flipped the voting to vote someone out for one week, he wouldn't stand a chance. Grrrr! Don't get me wrong, I love John Sargeant, I think he''s lovely, and I'm not for a second blaming him for this. I just think it's unfair that other, better dancers will be put out of the competition in order to keep him in for his "entertainment" value.

As for X Factor, well here's an example of someone who's already been sacrificed in order to keep a lesser candidate in the show. I'm less invested in this show, it being the first year I've watched it, but even I was shocked at the result on Saturday. Ruth and Laura shouldn't have been in the sing off, Daniel should have been out ages ago. Saying that though, I did prefer Ruth's song in the sing off, and am glad they saved her. But I thought they would have saved Laura for her future potential over Ruth. Laura was one of the favourites to win, after all.

    It's all just mad.

No need to apologise, I agree that it was Heather's time to go (well, other than John). John does need to go though (although I didn't think he was much worse than Jodie this week, but Jodie was well below par, whereas John was just his usual rubbish). I can't see him lasting any more. Maybe out next week or the week after, he definitely won't go further than that.

I don't get the Daniel thing either. X-Factor is tough, because they are all (except Daniel) pretty talented, but people will vote the "poor dead wife" angle. I found the method of dealing with Diana interesting. I wonder what will happen next week.

I wouldn't bet on John going anytime soon. The public are really behind him. I'm predicting a major casualty of the competition this week.

Do you watch It Takes Two on BBC2? He was on that that other day (by phone - he and Kristina are on in person tonight), and he was holding court about how the show is a democracy, the public get 50% of the votes, yadda yadda, and telling Craig that if he doesn't like it, he should really consider his position as a judge. I've liked John up till now, but he's coming across as very smug about the whole thing.

I did see that, but to me he's only pointing out the truth. To me he sounds like he's really impressed that this is working as well as it is for him.

I know he still does have support, but there are also an increasing number of people who are saying enough is enough. Rachel being in the bottom two was a bit of a wake up call, but even if that wasn't, whoever else goes this week should be what it takes to tip the scale I think.

Oh, this isn't really the place for it, but did the money go through OK? It should be there by now (should have arrived a few days ago).
