Alex Garland, who wrote the screenplay for 28 Days Later (and wrote the book The Beach) is going to write the script for Halo (I'll call it HALO if I God damn please, look at the menu screens). Garland is good at creating tension and for dreary visions. If Jackson does end up directing it, it should be visually arresting (which is something strong it has going for it). Under the (Story) credit, it goes to the guy behind the video games, Joseph Staten. I want to ask Dylan: did he write any of the books? If not, we may not be dealing with the Fall of Reach or anything like that, which would eliminate some sweet naval confrontations in space. If so, oh well. It is slotted for 2007, so we fans will have to wait another year and a half before it comes out. But, until then, we've got Jarhead, The New World, Miami Vice, and much more. I guess I can wait. At least they're making it. I so hope Ridley Scott comes on. That might make my life (and I mean no emphasis on this matter, if Scott directed the Halo movie and it was divine, my life as a film critic would be complete).
