    Adding A Counter To Your Journal
    The first thing to do is go out onto the web and pick up a counter. Make sure the counter is HTML based since Blurty will not permit the use of JavaScript. If you'd like a little more information about Blurty and JavaScript, you can find the FAQ here.

    It's important that you have a website specified in your journal in order for this override to work. It doesn't matter what URL you have listed, just as long as you have one specified. Use your own journal if you can't think of anything else. Edit your Account options to do this.

    After you have signed up for service, you will be provided with the code you need to place the counter in your journal. Once you've got the code, go to the Modify Look page to customize the look of your journal.

    The code is not a part of the GLOBAL_HEAD, instead, you will be creating a LASTN_WEBSITE override. Notepad does not have an override for a counter because it does not have a LASTN_WEBSITE field.

    Clean and Simple

    Your counter will appear just below the link to the website you have specified in your info page. When you copy and paste this code, replace the "Your counter's HTML goes here" line with your counter's code.

    LASTN_WEBSITE<=
    <br>
    <a class="links" href="%%url%%">%%name%%</a>
    <br><br>
    YOUR COUNTER'S HTML CODE GOES HERE
    <=LASTN_WEBSITE

    By experimenting with the <br> tag, you can shift the location of your counter in relation to the website you've specified in your edit info page.

    Default Blurty

    Your counter will appear on the bottom of the page, just to left of the link to about blurty.com. When you copy and paste this code, replace the "Your counter's HTML goes here" line with your counter's code.

    <=LASTN_WEBSITE

    Using a Custom Style to Add a Counter

    You can, of course, use a custom style to add a counter. Only paid accounts and early adopters have access to Blurty's custom style feature, so this will only work with paid accounts. The best place to add a counter is in the LASTN_PAGE text area at the bottom of the page.

    What does the HTML code look like? Here's a few samples from popular free counter service sites. These examples do not indicate an endorsement of these counter services on the part of Blurty or the Customization Community. These examples have been provided solely as a reference for you. You do not have to use these services and Blurty makes no guarantees in regard to these services.

    Site Meter

    When you get a SiteMeter account, you'll have to do a little searching through the pages to find the HTML code, but it's there. SiteMeter calls this the Site Meter Regular HTML code. Do not get the JavaScript HTML, Blurty will not permit that code to load onto your page.

    <!--WEBBOT bot="HTMLMarkup" startspan ALT="Site Meter" -->
    <a href="http://s11.sitemeter.com/stats.asp?site=s11KillerMuffin" target="_top">
    <img src="http://s11.sitemeter.com/meter.asp?site=s11KillerMuffin" alt="Site Meter" border=0></a>
    <!--WEBBOT bot="HTMLMarkup" Endspan -->

    Please do not copy and paste this counter code. It will not work for you.

    The Counter

    The Counter will send you an email with a link to the code for your new counter. There is a script code and noscript code. The HTML you need is between the <NoScript> and </NoScript> tags. You should not copy the noscript tags with the counter code.

    <A HREF="http://www.TheCounter.com" TARGET="_top"><IMG
    SRC="http://c3.thecounter.com/id=2580853" ALT="TC" BORDER=0></A>

    Please do not copy and paste this counter code. It will not work for you.

    Bravenet

    There is a script code and noscript code in the counter code field. The HTML you need is between the <NoScript> and </NoScript> tags. You should not copy the noscript tags with the counter code.

    <a href="http://counter17.bravenet.com/index.php?id=363468&usernum=1396777363&cpv=1"
    target="_top"><img src="http://counter17.bravenet.com/counter.php?id=363468&usernum=1396777363"
    alt="Bravenet.com" border="0" /></a>

    Please do not copy and paste this counter code. It will not work for you.

    All that's left is to click "Save Changes" when you've finished adding the override.
