As of – I glance at the nearest clock or wristwatch possible – 7:49pm, I already have speckles of red sauce on my WHITE top brought to you by the Bolognese spaghetti I ate. I also almost tipped over the glass of water in front of me towards Ryan’s direction – imagine what a disaster that could have been. Ryan Ross. Wet. Okay, I swear to God that didn’t sound dirty in my head. I’m serious. While Ryan was looking at the receipt that was handed to him, I was fiddling with my bag on top of the table looking for breath mints and to grab my Sidekick just to check for new messages. Ryan was done checking the receipt for any errors and paid for the food when he suddenly called out my name. “Anna?” I looked up at him, opened my mouth and was supposed to say “huh?” when that “huh?” came out as a loud burp. A FUCKING BURP FOR CHRIST’S SAKE. I immediately covered my mouth with my hand, staring at Ryan with wide eyes. He was staring back at me – of course not out of my striking beauty (yes, I’m so full of myself) – but in surprise. A waitress giggled insanely, looking at my direction and the waiter beside her shook his head in amusement. Oh God. Can the floor please open up and swallow me whole!? “Um…” “Excuse me for a moment!” I blurted out, standing out of my chair and running towards the bathroom, ignoring Ryan’s calls for me to come back and about something I forgot. I am too embarrassed to even give a flying fuck on what I forgot. Upon reaching the bathroom, I looked at my reflection. Everything was still good and in perfect shape, except for those red stains on my top. Ugh. I didn’t want to or even try to wash them off with cold or hot water. I didn’t want to further the damage of what has already been damaged. And this so happens to be one of my favorites. Damnnit. This is the worst night of my life and nothing can get any worse than this. Shit, I need to call Emmy. I can’t wait for this date to be over until I could start And then it hit me. Oh, shit. I left it on the table. With Ryan. Unattended. And that really was contradicting. So that was what I left. Damn. Sighing heavily and after looking at my reflection for the last time, I take my bag with me, exit the ladies’ room and walked back to the table with a pinch of pride left in me. And I was also silently praying that Ryan never laid a finger on my phone while I was away. “Hey, you alright?” Ryan asked, the moment I sat back down on my chair. “Yeah, I’m fine. Can we go now?” I replied, forcing a smile on my face. So we left the restaurant and I am NEVER going back to that place again, despite the good food. After walking a few steps away from the restaurant, I stopped right in front of Ryan, surprising him a little. “Listen…I’m sorry about what happened back there. I shouldn’t have run off like that and I most of all shouldn’t have burped but you know, can’t help it if an unexpected burp comes out of no where. I should’ve excused myself, you know but that totally slipped my mind and I really wanted to floor to open up and swallow me whole so that I could disa–” My words were cut off for the fact that Ryan is pressing a finger on my lips. “You’re talking too much.” I guess I was. I sighed and mumbled a sorry. He smiled at me. “Don’t worry about it. You didn’t have to be sorry or anything.” “I guess I was just nervous you know, about this whole…date thing. Sorry…” “We all know things like these happen during first dates. It’s a normal thing so stop apologizing, Anna.” “Right. Sorry.” Ryan raised his eyebrows at me and gave me a look. “Oh shit, sor – never mind.” Ryan chuckled. “God, you’re adorable. C’mere.” He stretched out his arms and pulled me into a hug, kissing my forehead in the process. “Feel better now?” Better? I feel great. I feel amazing. I feel special. I feel like I could just melt right in your arms. All of those thoughts were in my head, but I could only do a mere nod. “That’s good. C’mon, let’s go back to the hotel.” We arrived back at the hotel and were standing in front of the door that leads to my shared room. Ryan and I were facing each other holding hands. “Thanks for the great night,” I smiled at him, “and for making me feel better. I was such a mess and I guess I can say you made it all better in the end.” Silence fell between us and I could sense that Ryan was leaning in for a kiss. A little more…just a little bit closer… “Anna!” WHAT THE FUCK. GREAT TIMING EMMY. I turned to my best friend and gave her the deadliest glare I could manage to make and give her. “Oh shit, did I interrupt you guys?” “What. Do. You. Want. Emmy?” I hissed; my blood boiling at each word coming out of my mouth. “Um…well…I uh…I heard you from the inside and uh…your favorite show is on the tube and uh…never mind!” And with that, she closes the door with a slam. Note to self: kill Emmy later. I turned back to Ryan who was grinning and shaking his head. “Bad timing, huh? I’ll kill her later, don’t worry.” “So…where were we?” “Hmm…” I looked up at the ceiling and putting my finger on my lips to add to the effect, “I think you were just about to kiss me.” “Is that so?” Ryan raised an eyebrow at me. I nodded innocently. “Well then…” He took hold of my chin with his fingers, raised it up and brought our lips together. His lips were soft and I could feel myself shiver down to my toes; the heat he was giving to me was just too much but I did not want him to stop. My hands found its way to his neck like his hands to my waist. The moment we pulled away, we were panting and out of breath. Boy, did we really pack some heat there. I think I could feel myself sweating. “I have to go…” I managed to speak, but he wouldn’t let go. “Ryan…” “Okay…” he whispered in my ear, “but just to let you know, I’ll try to fit that appointment with you in my schedule.” I looked at him with a seriously confused look. “What appointment?” He wouldn’t reply. “What appointment?” No reply; he just grinned and finally let me go. “Goodnight, Anna.” “WHAT APPOINTMENT!?” He laughed and leaned down towards me, letting our foreheads touch. “Check your phone then you’ll know.” He gave me one last peck on the cheek and walked away while I just stood there, completely confused. What the fuck was that appointment? I took out my Sidekick to check what caused this appointment to happen. There wasn’t anything out of the ordinary; the IM exchange I had with Emmy was still open and nothing else. I looked at the phone in my hands, trying to process everything. The IM window was still open. … Oh… OH… OH SHIT. |
