Welcome To Your Vice
Last night I dreamt I was pregnant again.
Except that one minute I was all gigantic, the next - poof! - there was baby. (Convenient.) I never did give her a name, although if I had, it would probably have been Carbtastic Chunky Monkey Risotto Banana Bread, because that's what I had to eat yesterday evening (not in that order) before I went to bed contentedly wrapping my arms round my overstuffed midriff. Yes, I'm afraid so. But it was a great weekend. Helen came over on Friday evening and we watched S2 of True Blood spaced out over Friday to Sunday. (H went off on Saturday morning to play with SSW at the national band finals in Harrogate.) On Saturday evening we got Pished, watched Office Space and played drunken GH: Metallica (she was on drums and I was on vocals); we were defeated by Broken, Beat & Scarred and Motörhead's The Ace Of Spades but aced Nothing Else Matters (twice) and Four Leaf Clover. I managed Dyers Eve on Medium level, but not so well as the last time (when it didn't save, wahh).
Sunday we went for a walk to Tesco (as if that justifies the amount of ice-cream we ate), finished off True Blood S2 and watched Terminator 2: Judgement Day (Special Edition), which was on a list of movies Helen was trying to tick off. Partway through we took a break and Helen made risotto and I made the aforementioned banana bread (H had asked me to find a way to use up the bananas before they went off, so I found a recipe online). We returned to the film, scoffed all the risotto - so much for leaving a portion for H - and then had a couple of slices of the banana bread when that finished baking (mmm, squishy). And all of a sudden it was nearly 6.30pm! Took Helen to Farnborough train station (sniff), came back and watched Supernatural ep 3. Which was hilarious - I am going to have to ask Misha Collins to write a certain line on my photo if he's agreeable, tee hee.
H's band came 17th out of... 17 in the third section, mainly because the principal cornet completely lost it out of nervousness, poor bugger, although several people were complimenting H on his "awesome" euph playing and solos (he was pretty much the only person to get favourable comments by the adjudicator, and the banding website 4barsrest picked him out as the band's star player: "Good solid effort amid the troubles". *is proud*) Shame they couldn't do better, but never mind - it's still pretty great to make it to the finals. He got back around 10pm as the traffic was so crap.
And that was the weekend. Roll on the next one. *yawwwwnnnnnn*

We ate lots of yummy food, watched good stuff, and had a good time. All that qualifies a weekend as a success in my book! Thanks again for having me, and I'm sorry the band didn't get higher, though well done to H! (Reply to this) (Thread) |
