Prince2 Training is preferred in a wide range of industries, not only in the UK but in other countries as well. The reason for this is that Prince2 is seen as the standard way of project management in businesses of all types.
The origins of Prince2 lie in the late 1980s, as a system of IT project management. Despite being initially developed as an exclusive system for managing IT projects, its use soon proliferated to fields beyond information technology. This is because business owners gradually recognized that Prince2 could be implemented for a wider set of applications than what it was initially meant for.
It is the de facto standard for the UK government (the original version had been conceived as the government standard for IT project management). Prince2 training is very important because it provides instructions to individuals in a recognised set of rules. Although these protocols are standard and documented, they are very flexible such that they can be personalised to cater for the project in hand.
Prince2 is, for example, full scalable; it can be used for large projects as well as smaller ones.
However, at times it is not worth making use of Prince2 with very small projects because of the amount of work required in checking processes. It was however made to tailor to every project.
Recently, changes were made to Prince2 training. This happened in 2009. It was updated specifically for the modern business environment. It is now simplified and focuses on the areas of misunderstanding in the first version.
The idea is that it focuses on processes (which sets it apart from other project management methods), giving clarity for the project in terms of who is responsible for what, and when and how different goals need to be met.
There are many benefits of Prince2 training. The first benefit is the actual project management training. As a project leader you will be in a position to know how to carry out the project in the most efficient way prince2 courses. You will also be taught how to deal with problematic issues in the event that they arise.

If you possess some project management experience, you can still learn Prince2 without attending training classes. However, you mat still need to sit for exams to gain the necessary qualifications.
Insofar as exams, there is a Foundation level exam of 1 hour duration. Additionally, there is another Practitioner level, essay-based exam of 2 hours duration. Both exams are conducted and supervised by the Project Management Association.
Organizations offering Prince2 training must be accredited by the Project Management Association. This ensures that training quality is uniform and of the highest standards. Renewal of accreditation every 3 years is mandatory for Prince2 instructors, as are annual appraisals.
A practitioner who manages to qualify after the Prince2 training has to be re-accredited every five years. This is done by writing a short one hour exam.
