The judges don't want me to watch American Idol
Maybe it's the producers who don't want me watching, but whoever it is, last night they very cleverly did the three things that ensured I would be boycotting American Idol (for a while at least.) I know that they've frequently favored personality over ability - but usually when they can do it, I can at least see the marginal appeal of said personality. This time they put in three incredibly annoying asshats whose voices grate on me beyond belief. It's sad when I have to hope that the American public will quickly correct the mistakes of the judges - and I have this fear that if the American public does shitcan those assholes, then the judges will use their three "judges' choices" to put them back in to the final 12.

Maybe by the time all three have been cut from the show, I'll be so engrossed in a good book or a new program, that I can't be bothered with AI again :-).

	I look forward to, er, judging for myself when I catch the eps in the UK. (This weekend, probably; we prefer to store them up until we have all the weeks' AI happenings to watch in one go.) (Reply to this) (Thread)

The third was Nate - that very tragically dressed young man who went around crying hysterically to everyone who would listen (and to several who clearly didn't want to listen) during group week because he couldn't get Kristen & that red-headed chick to rehearse together. Come to think of it - I'm none too thrilled that Kristen got through either. I have to admit I can't remember any of their voices - maybe a couple of them are truly excellent singers. The combination of their shtick, narcissism and screeching so infuriates me that I'm deaf to any possible talent they might actually possess. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

OK, now that I've seen it - I think Kristen has a good voice, although she needs to work on her dress sense. Putting Tatjana through was dead wrong - the girl is obviously not mentally stable enough for this and there were people way better than her who got cut - and she's been left in it purely for the freak value. Emo Nate and Norman/Nick/Whateverhisnameis are a little better, but not much. With luck, they'll be weeded out quickly enough so we can focus on the actual talent. (Reply to this) (Thread)
