FINALLY finished reading The Jungle. It wasn't that long...and I like to think that I don't read that slow...but it took forever. The last thirty pages just launched into an extended super-long Socialist rant on Chicago and the Beef Trust. But it's done and completed. Now I have to choose between "The Naked and the Dead" and "East of Eden". Recommendations?

And, sadly, I am sorely tempted to switch to LJ. Alex AND Katy AND Cory AND Sara vs. the humble slow, often broken beauty of Blurty. Don't know.

Just switch. Come on, You Guys. I don't know about you, but when you load up Blurty, you really aren't loading it up at all. You're loading up a ThisPageDoesn'tWork page. So you might as well just go to www.thispagedoesn'twork.com. And LiveJournal, no matter about the goats, really is LiveJournal. i guess you're just Not Worthy to Call Sue and do some stuff i'll bring it tomorrow so you can lean over my shoulder and peer at the Officialness of it all the mail system is corrupt...you will probably get it tomorrow...or someone accidentally ate it...or maybe mrs. c accidentally put some anthrax into the tamlers' letters and therefore they didn't get through the Automated Anthrax Finder that's more likely (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

oh and as far as those books...well i know nothing about the naked and the dead, but like a year ago i tried to read east of eden and you know, although i normally adore steinbeck, i couldn't get through it. i didn't like it. maybe it was because i was busy, it's probably really good, i just couldn't get into it. as far as steinbeck goes i would much more recommend to a god unknown or cannery row because they are the epitome of awesomeness. but yes. i don't know what point i was making exactly. i will cease now. -- le gepettio (Reply to this) (Thread)

hey,I got your point. i already started the naked and the dead and am enjoying it...well, the first few chapters, at least. alex said east of eden was something about good vs. evil...and stuff... i'll have to get to those. with my exceedingly nonexistent time.
