If the promise of money is
    anon - Tue, 2012-08-07 15:18
If the promise of money is what is keeping anarchists from talking to police or feds, then street cred has seriously been thrown out the window for northwest anarchists who were pretty much setting the standard in the US.

I don't think it's fair to equate "the promise of money is one thing keeping anarchists from snitching" to "the promise of money is THE one thing keeping anarchists from snitching".

What the fuck are you talking
    anon - Tue, 2012-08-07 16:12
What the fuck are you talking about? Of course this isn't what is keeping anyone from talking to police or feds.

Prison is going to (temporarily) wreck these lives, even if they will only be in prison for the life of the grand jury. They will need some help getting back on their feet, and that is what these monies being solicited are for. This is what material solidarity looks like. Petty vandalism is one thing, but there are real considerations of the targets of state repression that need to be met.

If, because this is one less thing for these people to worry about, this helps the subpoenaed stand firm in not cooperating, that's a benefit, too, but surely not the primary aim.

Keep assassinating judges, murdering police, calling in bomb threats to federal buildings, smashing stuff, dropping banners, demonstrating, calling in etc. but also give or facilitate giving through fundraisers, etc.

We are in a climate of increased repression and yet bailable anarchist prisoners are languishing behind bars. There are still NATO demonstrators (that are not charged with terrorism) in jail!

This is highly problematic not only for the individuals being held and beaten in county but also because it signals that those that would be accused of assaulting police or rioting are not given the support they need.
