Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry

Flavored marker pens, manufactured by Mr. Sketch, the big fat markers, remember those? Mr. Sketch markers came in a sliding box, you slid the markers through the middle of the box and they pulled out from the top cardboard.

Feel the excitement of brand new 64 color crayons in their box with the sharpener intact.

AS an adult, being the aware inner-child healed adult that I am, I buy myself new Mr. Sketch markers every few months. I buy the thin kind. They're very hard to find. I can never remember whether Staples, Office Depot, or OfficeMax sells them. So I end up going to each store when I dry out all my markers or use them up or lose them.

    It's not time yet.

But slowly, one by one, I forget to put the caps back on. And there the markers sit at my desk in the morning. Exposed. Naked. Dried out.

Serenaded by Uschi, You're out of my life

    Social weekend I've had.

Did I tell you about it already? Well I'm tellingewnow!

Friday began at Ms. Marjorie's home nearby with her roaring fireplace and soft candlelight and full bar including the Kahlua wee brought, BlueSky Vodka (one of my favorites... ok it's called Sky but it's in the cobalt blue bottle), Irish Cream... all kinds of drinks.

I had a glass of wine.

I sat on big floor cushions. Marj has all these great art pieces from her world travels. Hardwood floors. The home itself, the Melrose Place style apartments have a name... an old Spanish name... as it has been around since the 1920s since our building too!!

Marj has fire energy that lights up everyone and is the center of attention.

'Nnnnyways, now it's Saturday and I did my usual ritual Saturday library visit and we went to the open market and I visited my Yarn LYS local yarn shop

Article Pract. I call it Heaven.

    Seriously.

Skeins of yarn are laid out on tables for you to fondle. And some skeins are in baskets, old antique furniture desks or bureaus. There are modern metal baskets with Debbie Bliss, Lamb's Pride, Bamboo silk, Linen, Cashmere, or Blue Sky cotton, home spun fibers, all kinds of hand dyed wools. The small (too tiny for me) skeins like for size 1-4 needles are in their own special rounds.

Knitting needles come in neon plastic versions that light up at night! What a concept! Knitting at raves?

Or there are wooden, steel, and my favorite, silly colored plastics from Crystal Palace.

Next door, the local RSers tell me I need to experience "Bake Sale Betty's Bakery." It's the no-name bakery there's no sign outside to tell you what it is. But people line up for her one item: chicken sandwiches, that's all the lunch food she sells! or chicken salad.

And a few varieties of cookie, scone, or pie.

Betty came over from Chez Panisse. everyone knows Chez Panisse right? Alice Waters' restaurant.legendary.

I experienced Bake Sale Betty's but everyone is too nice in there. The woman in front of me in line, she got a free piece of banana bread. She asked about it and they gave it to her for free. She said, oh, I was just asking and the bakery employee said, "Oh no, we're just giving it to you. You don't have to pay?"

Apparently, this is part of the "good vibe" that they do... it's not the bakers' dozen that qualifies you for free goods. It's the goodwill of the employees.

    I love that place.

I need to give out more goodwill of my own.

And I haven't even told you about Sunday yet.

Sunday in summary was a gift of Julia. Jules. Another love of my life, as a platonic, best friend, or sister love.

What do you draw? Or doodle? Or scribble?

Oh My Darling, I don't draw. No I don't even scribble! No, I do however, go into meetings fully equipped with at least two colored and scented pens at a time. I don't take the whole pack because it's overkill but it's fun to take a few colors to liven up my notes. Most of my colleagues take laptops to meetings but I always say, I used to sleep with my laptop and now I think it's healthier for us to have time apart.

even though we made out in the rose garden, did unseemly things almost but not unseemly. it just felt like it may be or become that way.

I loved that part. Reminded me of something I would write in an entry. A whole bunch of my favourite things like gardens, making out, unseemly things, etc...
