Holy wow! I'm so behind on posting! T.T; For some reason, I got it into my head that when I finally post, I should post EVERYTHING up to that date, so... yeah. No. That's not going to work. Hirakata, Osaka: November 04, Tuesday Prior to class, I trimmed Huey's bangs. She'd be going to Tokyo on Friday, so she wanted it cut before that. Whatever. After classes were out for the day, I had dinner with Nami, RinRin, and Ringo. ^_^ Just the four of us. That was fun~ I'd been a little nervous beforehand, but it was really easygoing and fun. We talked about inane things-- television, spicy food, slang and the like. I was kind of nervous at first-- after all, I've never done well with strangers to begin with, but eating lunch with a group of strangers-- especially when they're all Japanese, speaking nearly only Japanese, in Japan, and already all friends? Where I'm the only outsider? A recipe for disaster! But Huey didn't want to come-- she just wanted to go home. ^_^; So I went alone, and ended up really, really, really enjoying myself. Hirakata, Osaka: November 05, Wednesday Went to class and turned in my popular culture paper. It was much longer than I intended for it to be, and I ended up having to cut it down to make it fit the page requirements. Sigh. I wrote to seven pages, when it's apparently supposed to be 4 - 5. (In my defense, earlier in the term he SAID 4 - 6... but then on the handout regarding the paper's requirements, he wrote 4 - 5.) Considering it's been so long since I posted... we've gotten the paper back since then, so I'll just mention that here. The teacher wrote that I had a good intro... then made a small note that I needed a citation on a particular point... then asked a question at another point. At the end of the paper, he had a half page of nothing but criticism for everything I'd done wrong. And yet, I got an A. O_o That's... odd. (As an aside... wow, has it really been a month since I posted?!) Hirakata, Osaka: November 06, Thursday At 11, I met with Hiroko and Nami. We intended to have lunch together, but prior to lunch, we were going to the computer lab to look up a few things. (We ended up not eating lunch, by the way.) First, I needed to find a hostel or capsule hotel or something for my stay in Tokyo. (I ended up finding a nice, cheap, cozy little place called Aizuya Inn-- it worked out really well.) Second, I had them try the sour candy that I love-- the same sour candy that nearly made Yui cry. ^___^; Third, Nami was helping me navigate the website to purchase my tickets to go see Phantom of the Opera. I'M GOING TO GO SEE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA IN JAPANESE!! That's all. I've basically stopped going to the Manga Union by this point... Hirakata, Osaka: November 07, Friday A normal day of class, then a return home. For once, Huey and I didn't hang out after class-- because she was in Tokyo. ^___^; Shinsaibashi, Osaka: November 08, Saturday ... Honestly, I can't for the life of me remember what I did this day. Maybe I stayed home and did nothing, or maybe I went somewhere with okaasan. I can't remember. -.- Kobe: November 09, Sunday With various elderly people from my sleepy neighbourhood, we went on a tour to Kobe. That was fun! At 9 AM, we got on our tour bus-- #283 URARA (Ooh La La!), a Keihan line bus leaving from Yawata City Hall. First, we went to Kachoen, a... um... hmmm. An aviary/garden? We watched a show where Kachoen was showing off some of their owls, and there were a few funny moments when the owls to fly to the rafters and turn their head away, refusing to come down when their names were called until their keepers caught their eyes. At that point, they'd always return to doing what they were supposed to be doing. Maron in particular was HUGE! After the show, we had time to wander around by ourselves and look at the other birds-- some of which were ugly as heck, and some were really pretty-- and look at the flowers. My favourite part, though, was definitely a room that was almost entirely one gigantic lily pond. O_o It was pretty~ so many different types of water lilies! (Um... what's the difference between a water lily and a lotus?) At 12:20, we left from Kachoen to go have lunch. Lunch was sushi at a traditional-style restaurant, and it was quite tasty. At 1:30 we left from lunch to go to a... I want to call it a brewery, but that's not right. It's a place where they show you how sake is made. It was pretty interesting, but I was ridiculously sleepy by that point, and it was definitely not as interesting as Kachoen or nice as lunch, so I think I kept zoning out. At 3:00, we left for home and returned at about 5. Hirakata, Osaka: November 10, Monday At 2:30 I met with Robert to work on our psychology research project. (By "research" I don't mean writing a report based on information presented in other studies-- I mean conducting our own study.) That was so-so, I suppose... At 5:50, however, I met with Nami. We went to 7-11 so that I could pay for my Phantom of the Opera (called 'Operaza no Kaijin' in Japanese) tickets, and then we bought some snacks and spent an hour or two just chatting. That was pretty cool. ... Yeah. That's it. Then we went home. Hirakata, Osaka: November 11, Tuesday Today was a holiday-- Gaidai Foundation Day, I believe-- so I went to Kuzuha Mall to purchase my shinkansen tickets to go to Tokyo. I also went to Avail and Shimamura to do some shopping, as I was getting REALLY sick of wearing the same clothes constantly. With the weather being in a time of change... there are only so many pants I can wear, and so many long-sleeved shirts. Sigh. But it's still too warm for my thick winter coat, so I'm always wearing the same two coats over and over again as well. Hirakata, Osaka: November 12, Wednesday Huey's first day back in classes~ and... um, didn't really do anything. XD A normal day of school. Hirakata, Osaka: November 13, Thursday Another normal day of school, another skipped Manga Union meeting. (Apparently, member attendance had all but ceased anyway-- even our president was only there half the time.) Hirakata, Osaka: November 14, Friday Since Huey was mourning the fact that I managed to get some clothes for quite good prices, as I abhor spending a lot of money on clothing, she had me go to Shimamura and Avail with her. I bought another couple of things-- a shirt for myself, a shirt for mom, a bag for Tokyo-- and she bought some things. Then we went home. Hirakata, Osaka: November 15, Saturday Huey had plans, so I took my time waking up, had brunch out at a cafe with Okaasan, went to school to do some research, and went to get my hair cut. I've never gotten a professional haircut before, so I was kind of nervous. -.- But it was wonderful! I'm pleased.
