In correspondence with my most recent entry, I found a poem that I remember liking a lot. EPITAPH ON AN ARMY OF MERCENARIES These, in the day when heaven was falling, The hour when Earth's foundations fled, Followed their mercenary calling And took their wages and are dead. Their shoulders held the sky suspended; They stood, and earth's foundations stay; What God abandoned, these defended, And saved the sum of things for pay. -A.E. Housman I think it about sums things up, how things stand in the world. I should be done with my mission in approximately a few days. The thing about missions is they are so mutable. You might be leaving one day to embark and have your mission delayed a month, whereas you could any day just be waiting to be told when to leave. As for me, I'm just trying to pass the time by. Things go by so bloody slow when they are racing with anticipation. I'm just anxious to get this whole ordeal over with. I don't much like Americans. Some of them are okay, like Ana, but for the most part I find them so very arrogant. They are fun to mess with though. They fall for tricks so bloody easily. Not that I have experience with this.... |
