The End of Early Adopter Accounts
Hello Everyone!
We have (finally) ended the distribution of Early Adopter accounts at Blurty. That means we are entering the next phase of development. All new accounts will be Free Accounts from here forward. We will be adding a tiered account system in May. That means that those with Free Accounts who want all of the bells and whistles and extra features will have the opportunity to get higher level accounts once they are introduced in the next month.
We want to thank all of you for your help during the testing phase of Blurty and, of course, anyone who already has an Early Adopter account will keep that account for as long as they choose to remain a member.
Starting with the change over to Free Accounts, we are also going to begin strictly enforcing the 18 and over policy. If you have an Early Adopter account, we won't be going back and checking everyone, but if you sign up for a new Free Account, we will require that you are over 18 years old, as the rules say. Thanks for understanding!
I guess that's all for now. There are a lot of good things coming, stay tuned.

nobody should interfere with others personal journals, we can all agree with that (slimey stalkers, that crap.). they are personal, and should alawys be considered ones personal property, without the interference of taking out features from buereucrrats.
the 18+ rule is a little to high, most journal users are around 15-16, so why not lower the age to 16. 16 year old kids are the backbone of livejournal and deadjournal. you don't want to get rid of this demographic, trust me. Look at the stats on both LiveJournal and DeadJournal. Don't turn your back on your only savior. Kids who are 15-16 asre confused, and therey are just teenagers, they need journals. they bring in the business damn it. u gotta launch a massive campaign to appeal to teenagers. this 18+ rule is too harsh. 18 year old and older probably don't have as many problems teens face these days. have a little compassion. i may sound as if im beating a dead horse, but do you remember when you were teenagers? (message to creators).
Thank god I have an Early Adopter account. I used to think people who kept journals were weird, but as I began to see others lives on jounrals, I was like, why not try it. It may do something with my personality. It is. I am very shy, and this is the only place I can express my life, in an effort to maybe finding someone who shares my own views, having the feerling i'm not alone, or just to let my friends know about my life.
BTW - I like having an ivite option. 5 is the max limit that i will agree on. if one of your friends want an account but you've allready invited 5 friends, why can't they ask one of the 5 friends you've allready invited. common sense. then it will be less stress on Blurty, and your friends can know each other. it also is a fact that if u give a friend help you'll expect him/her to do the same for someone else.
I hate LiveJournal cus it sucks, and I can't access some journals because of problems on their side of the web. LiveJournal is always down. LOL that is why I love Blurty, it's always up!(Reply to this) (Thread) |

OOps I see I'm hullucinating - seems I still have early adopter status unless you've changed it back (mutter I JUST Have too many journals) so apols. However how on earth are you going to keep this 18+? It has been tried time and again on other journal sites. Besides some of the 17 and younger would be Journallers are less plaintive and complaining and generally a drain than other more mature users. BUT how will you enfoce this rule - ask for a faxed Birth Certificate? It cannot be done.(Reply to this) (Thread) |

I just wanted to say that I tried reading some of these comments to see what was going on in the Blurty community, and all I have to say is that this arguing is making me sick. The 18- community needs to go someplace else and quit complaining. I've been to many different online journal sites and I don't see how it's such a difficult thing to simply move to another journal. It takes, what? 5 minutes? If that? I know a lot of mature underaged people. I feel I was one. However, as mature as those people are, they still have plenty of growing up to do, like I did. So I'm thinking that the arguing should stop (of course). We all know the underaged people who are throwing their temper tantums are not, in fact, going to stop whining. However, perhaps we, as adults, should stop commenting to them...Just stop arguing with them. I'm sure they're going to say things like "see? you aren't arguing because u know i'm right!" But just get rid of their journals, and let the issue drop.
I love this journal community and I hate to see so much (or what seems to be so much) effort going toward this silly argument. I'm sure in the end, it'll get resolved, but let's have it happen sooner than later.
Love to Blurty!(Reply to this) (Thread) |
