Asking for advice is not always easy. You may feel too shy to come out and say what's bothering you, or you just might not know who to go to. We understand, and we can help! Talking about your issue is a really good way to get things off your chest. It doesn't matter if it's about pursuing dance as a career or just which brand of eyeliner lasts the longest. Keep you chins up girls, ask Alex! She knows where it's at.

    Dear Alex,
I've been dancing since I was three years old and I'm very devoted. The problem is I just entered high school and am finding it harder to balance dancing and school. What should I do?
    - Balancing Act

    Dear Balancing Act,
Your problem is not an uncommon one. You just need to get your priorities in line. If you have a lot of homework on a night that you have dance class, don't waste time doing other things when you could be getting your work done. This way, you're worry free come dancing time!

    Dear Alex,
I just recently got moved up into the Senior A ballet class at my studio. Right after that, my confidence went down. I feel more intimidated and a lot less comfortable. What gives?
    - Nervous Wreck

    Dear Nervous Wreck,
Congratulations on making it to the "big leagues!" It's perfectly normal for you to feel shyer around the upperclassmen. You shouldn't, though. If you were good enough to get bumped into their class that's all the more reason for you to strut your stuff!

    Dear Alex,
I'm a very determined dancer. I like to get things the minute I learn them and I get really frustrated when I don't. I don't want to look stupid or have everyone else know and get the step but me. Am I too hard on myself?
    - Stubborn

    Dear Stubborn,
It's good that you're determined and want to learn. However, there's a fine line between determined and overworking. You don't want to look like a fool throwing a temper tantrum because you're frustrated. Ask your teacher or a friend to help you go over it until you get it. Take some deep breaths. You'll be fine!
