    BROCHURES VS. PROMOTIONAL ITEMS
    BROCHURES VS. PROMOTIONAL ITEMS

Brochures and promotional items are two of the most favorite marketing mediums. Brochures contain a lot of information about your business, service, product or brand. They make up the basic content that you want your clients or customers to read so they can have a better understand of your company. This is your TV commercial only put in a glossy paper. Brochure is your company website only written in bold letters instead of html.

Promotional items on the other hand can be anything – a t-shirt, mug, keychain, card, cap etc. Unlike brochures, they contain minimal texts. There is no write up about your company history or profile. There is no content about the services that you do or the products that you sell. There is no picture of you as the CEO or your other staff in a promotional product. Truth is, it may not contain any information about your business. The most it can have is your brand, your logo and perhaps a little slogan of your business.

No you may ask which is more effective between these two. This question is not simple. As it took years of marketing study to actually come up with these two marketing mediums, it would be unfair to lay down the answer on a simple 300 word article. Instead we will ask you questions that will help you choose between the two.

Brochures allow a better understanding of your company. It has information, texts and maybe contacts that would be beneficial to your product promotion. Where can you distribute it? Will people keep it? What will people do to if after they’ve read it? Does it have functions other than informing customers about your product or business?

Promotional items are free items and you know how people react to free items. Will people use your product? What will people think or how will they feel once they receive your free item? Will it give a positive image on your brand?

Answer these and then go back to the first question. Which is better, a brochure or a series of promotional items?
