Letter 5: On headaches and heartache
Dear Kid,
Whenever you feel that vein in the side of your head throbbing...
When the skin at the back of your head gets tight, like your brain's swelling up or your scalp's shrinking down...
When your eyes are dry and painful and you can feel your brows furrow into an expression that's not quite a glare and not quite a frown...
Quit being a tough guy and just take an Advil. Try not to write lengthy soul-searching journal entries, coz that ain't gonna help.
PS: This is one of those "Do as I say, not as I do" things.
