I've never found the rains threatening.. On the contrary, water gives me a high. Rains in Mumbai mean spontaneous treks through waterfalls and springs coursing all over National Park near my home in Mumbai.Adrak chai and hot samosas and cosying up.Rhapsodies apart,I've cribbed about the usual rigmarole of traffic jams, overflowing drains, muck all over etc etc .The point being, I've never felt actually threatened. But the deluge on saturday sent these chills coursing down my spine. It felt like doomsday.Steel gray, icicle like spears battering down ferociously. From my vantage point up in the sky,it felt like the sins of the city had finally caught up and this was the last deluge a la Genesis. The final reckoning and all that jazz. Or maybe twas the extra rum n coke courtesy Air India (For which I am grateful for.Thank you very much Madame . Also eternally grateful for the posthaste departure after a 1.5 DAY delay. But have to admit the hotel was GOOD esp the tiramisu) Joke apart.. our island IS sinking. At least according to the TOI.
