The Man Behind The Voice
We all know him. We all dance to his hip-shaking songs. And we're all aware of the star-status of this popular 22-year old; he's currently one of the hottest artists around. Temporarily breaking away from the boyband mold, he created his own album with his own magic touch and it's easy to see why people, especially young ladies everywhere, are absolutely crazy about this guy.His closest friends have nothing but high praise for him and as I hopped around asking what his friends thoughts about him were, I was met with kind words and occasionally, gentle teasing from his NSYNC bandmate, Chris Kirkpatrick.
Chris Kirkpatrick - He's an annoying little asshole but only i'm allowed to say that cause he's my little brother. Ayone else does and i'll just have to kick their asses. He comes off as cocky a lot, but he really isn't. I mean, you spend a few minutes with the guy and you'll know that. Real J, not Justin Timberlake the superstar. Not that he don't have reason to be cocky, kid's had girls screamin' after his ass since he came up to my knee cap.
Alyssa Milano - He has best quialities!? -laughs softly- No im kidding, He can be sweet at times.
Lance Bass - well. for starters, i admire the kid. even though he is far from being a kid anymore. always have admired him. even before the group. i was the dork that ran home to watch mmc and justin was this super talented kid younger than i. and through the years, he's held it together. he deserves everything he gets. some people say he's kind of pushy and arrogant, but considering that he's been in this cutthroat business all this time, i don't blame him. we all protect ourselves in different ways. he's way more normal than he has a right to be the way he grew up. he's one of my brothers, you know?
Jessica Simpson - He's my friend. A really great and hilarious person.
Faith Lauren Bass-Chasez - He's cute!
JC Chasez - My thoughts on Justin? :smirks a bit: He's talented in everything he does..annoying alot of the time but I love him like my own brother. I'm proud of him for putting out the album and being able to stay so focused on all his shows yet still have time for his friends an family.
Mandy Moore - Justin? *laughs* Justin's great. He's an amazing singer; brillant performer. I toured with him and the rest of NSYNC in 1999. He made fun of my feet. I still hate him for that but he's a great person. He's sweet. He's... he's... Justin, what more can I say? *waves at the camera* Hi Justin!
I recently sat down with the singer of that current hit song, Senorita and went a little more in-depth into the life of Justin Timberlake. He even cleared up that little misunderstanding in an old article of mine about him and Trace Ayala.
MistaMessicanJT: Im ready for my close up-Smirks-
The UT Times: -raises her eyebrow, laughs-
MistaMessicanJT: What?-Laughs- I just wanna clear up that Trace and I aren't married,and last night,we called off the engagement because we aren't ready for that.
The UT Times: Oh I'm sorry. Alright then. -sits down in a chair opposite of his and looks at him- But things are alright with you? Still together?
MistaMessicanJT: -Looks up at her-Of course we are,just not married.-Laughs-
The UT Times: But... someday you'd like to? - smiles -
MistaMessicanJT: Of course,maybe someday.
The UT Times: So how are things going for you? I saw your last video. - grins - That looked really really good.
MistaMessicanJT: Oh,you saw it?Did you like it?-Laughs-And Thank you..Just touring with Christina.-Nods-That's mainly my main focus..and I have benefit concerts coming up.
The UT Times: Yes I did like it! Although my favorite is still Rock Your Body. You got some awesome dance moves. - nods - You seem really, really busy. How do you even take time off for your personal life?
MistaMessicanJT: -Chuckles some-A lot of people love Rock Your Body..And thank you.-Blushes some at her compliment- When i'm done with the concerts,I just talk to my mom,and my closest friends are with me on tour..and including Trace.So..I just hang with them.They really keep me grounded.
The UT Times: With all the hype going on about and around you, it's really important to have close people there to keep your head leveled. - drapes one leg over the other thoughtfully and smiles - So tell me. How's it going with you and the rest of NSYNC? I mean, what's happening there? Can we expect a new album soon?
MistaMessicanJT: -Nods in agreement- The rest of the guys are doing GREAT.I mean,we were working for 7 years nonstop.We all deserved to do things on our own,ya know?So it's a good thing that we did..Not only that we got to do what we wanted but we also got to grow up a little more,and musically..So when we go back in the studio soon,which would be..I assume in the beginning of 2004,are ideas are going to be hitting the roof.
The UT Times: - smiles big - That's great! I'm going to be anticipating the upcoming album now. - laughs - On your album, you wrote your own songs? Or were you able to just give your input on the music? Or did you just come up with everything as a whole? Did you know that it was going to be this successful?
MistaMessicanJT: Thanks,I cant wait to get back with the other 4 guys -Smiles- Yeah I wrote my own songs,and I took full control of my album and what I wanted.It took time because during the album process,I was going through heartbreak..and all of that..and I just kept writing and writing..and even producing..and by the time the album released,I just knew if it didn't do well,It would be all on me..But i'm glad it did do well as it did.I was very nervous,but than again,excited to see peoples reactions.
The UT Times: - shakes her head - I'm not even going to go into that entire Britney thing because I'm pretty sure you're tired of people asking about that. - shifts in her seat - How's tour with Christina? I understand you were with her on that Disney series, MMC so it must be fun working with her again.
MistaMessicanJT: Actually,the whole Britney thing..I've heard all the questions that you could possibly think of though.-Laughs-I dont mind it.The tour with Christina is awesome,seeing her perform and do what she loves is great.I just cant believe it's just her and I finally doing what we do,together.It's a different vibe,and a different feel for both of our shows.Yes,MMC was ..was awesome.I always knew Christina would be famous one day,and here she is ..on the Justified and Stripped tour.
The UT Times: - laughs - There are speculation that you and Christina are going to fall in love together. - smiles - What do you think about that?
MistaMessicanJT: Girrl..you did not just go there.-Laughs-Well..If it happens,it happens.She's a great girl.
The UT Times: - laughs - But she's beautiful, isn't she? - smiles - Is there an MMC reunion that's going to happen anytime soon?
MistaMessicanJT: She is beautiful,no doubt. Man,I have no idea.I've seen a lot of the MMC people but I dont know if that would count as a reunion -Laughs-I also talk to a lot of them as well.
The UT Times: If you ever decide to stop being working, what would you rather do? Knowing how intensely dedicated you are to music, you must still want some kind of part in the music industry but would you like to settle down?
MistaMessicanJT: Well,I'm sure everyone knows that I love Basketball too.So I would do something of that sort,or whatever.I would love to settle down..just not now..I'm young,and i'm still full of energy.I wouldn't change what I'm doing now,and in the future,for anything.
The UT Times: If you hadn't ended up being able to do now, would you have just gone to college basketball and eventually for the nBA?
MistaMessicanJT: -Nods-Most definetly..I would of done that.Or still be at home,in Tennessee,and doing whatever.
The UT Times: How's your mom doing? I bet she's really proud..
MistaMessicanJT: Oh my mom is wonderful.She is really proud.
The UT Times: - smiles - So I take it that where you are now in life, you couldn't be happier?
MistaMessicanJT: -Smirks and looks at her for a moment-Well,theres ups and downs in my current relationship..but other than that,I couldn't be happier.
The UT Times: Every relationship has its ups and downs - smiles - But the key is getting through it together.
MistaMessicanJT: Oh of course.We always work whatevers going on,out.So it's a good thing that we're close -Nods-
The UT Times: - smiles - That's good. I'm happy for that. - shifts a little in her seat - I guess that's all I have to ask for now - laughs - I've pretty much satisfied my curiousity and I hope I didn't pry too much.
MistaMessicanJT: -Laughs-No,it's okay.It's actually one of the best interviews I've had.
