Hours after conducting the interview with the five year old enigma, I'm still giggling, tickled pink by the young girl's intelligence and comical but sweet manners. I finally caught up to the girl when I showed up and she was already there, seemingly waiting for me. She approached me first, running towards me and waving excitedly with the most endearing smile on her face. It is well-known that kids her age have not yet grasped the complete concept of sitting still in just one spot so we opted instead to walk hand in hand, talking. The UT Times: - takes your small hand in hers and walks up the sidewalk - Faith, tell me about yourself, sweetie. candycane faith: *giggles and skips besides her, keeping up* Umm... my name's Faaaaith annnd... I'm five! *holds up four fingers* I hab a pony named Tony cause *giggles softly* Tony gamme the pony. And I hab a doggy named Jet. He likes to play wif alot of other dogs he liked to jump on them and play leap frog. The UT Times: - raises a surprised eyebrow - Leap frog? - gets a smile after realizing what she meant - candycane faith: Uhhuh *nods her head* Daddy says that Jet plays leap frog wif the other dogs. *skips* And I hab three lizards. Larry, Moe and Curly. Buuuut... Larry and Curly are missing. *scrunches up her face* candycane faith: Ooooh guess what?! The UT Times: What? - smiles - candycane faith: I hab lollipops! Wanna lollipop? *reaches into the pocket of her overalls and holds up a cherry lolly* The UT Times: - smiles and takes the lollipop - Thank you, Faith candycane faith: *smiles shyly* You're welcome... The UT Times: Are you going to school this Fall? candycane faith: *pouts and then nods* uh-huh. My daddies are making me cause they said they want me to go. But I don't wanna go! I wanna stay wif my friends here. My daddy says I'm gonna get a lot of fwends at school but I like the ones I hab now. *smiles a bit* But Matt and Pierre told me they're gonna come wif me to kindergarten! *giggles* The UT Times: Are you excited about school now that Matt and Pierre are coming with you? candycane faith: *shrugs and smiles* Uh huh. Matt says I'm gonna be the smartest person in the kindergarten school cause I know how to read books alweady and I know how to count. I know my ... *tries to pronounce it* mull-tee-plee-kay-shun table. The UT Times: - surprised - You know your muliplication table? Wow! What do you know? candycane faith: *sucks thoughtfully on her lollipop and thinks* Ummm.. 2 times 12 is twenty-four! And 6 times 6 is 36! 7 times 7 is 49! 9 times 3 is 27! *giggles* The UT Times: Wow, that is REALLY smart! - smiles - So tell me about your daddies. You love them a lot? candycane faith: Uhhuh *nods* I lub them lots. My daddy is sick a lot and I sing to help him get better faster but my other daddy plays wif me lots of times. He's silly *shows off her dimples as she smiles and jumps* The UT Times: Want to tell me about your friends? candycane faith: *lights up* Kay! *waves her lollipop around as she talks* Umm. Luca is my best fwend but I didn't her in a while. I miss her lots :( Aunty Jen is gonna take me to see the Wiggles. *jumps up and down, giggling* Matt is my best boyfwend. I can't have a boyfwend cause my daddies don't like that so Matt's only my best boyfwend. He's fun. And so is Pierre. I miss Pierre too. He's funnyyyyy! Benji and Matt and Pierre and Joel all gamme kisses! *giggles* The UT Times: - laughs - Cute! You got to kiss one of the four cutest guys ever! candycane faith: *giggles* I KNOW!!!!!! They're cute! *giggles* And Aunty Brody has the best hair because they stick straight up. *giggles* I try to do that when I bwush my hair but it always goes back down. *frowns* Aunty Brody has magic hair. And I miss my Uncle Tony. *frowns and shakes her head* He gamme me a pony and I named him Tony. And Aunty Jessi doesn't have out wif me no more. I think she hates me. *skips a little, not knowing what else to say* The UT Times: - smiles as they approach your house - Aww, well we're here back at your house. - kneels down to her - I had fun talking with you, Faith. I hope we do it again. candycane faith: *frowns, pouts and hugs her* I had fun too ms. Lady. The UT Times: - stands up and lets her into the house then waves and walks away - candycane faith: *pouts, waves* bye bye bye! Truly one of the most adorable children I've ever seen in my life. Although it is said that she's been around the most vulgar of people, having heard and seen things most five year old kids shouldn't be seeing, I find her innocent untainted. Simply because she still has that wide-eyed innocence about her that hasn't yet been touched by corruptive hands. And I pray and hope that she will maintain that for as long as she can. I quite enjoyed speaking with her and cannot wait until the next time I see her. Lance Bass and JC Chasez are quite, quite lucky to be able to have such a wonderful child in their lives.
