    Current mood: crushed

    FML
a wrench has been thrown into the gears of my weekend. a big stupid wrench that would've been nice to know about whenever it happened.

sometime in the winter of 2007, darren got pulled over driving a friend's car. the car was uninsured, so they had to get insurance and darren has to go to court and whatever. issue resolved.

oh, until sometime last summer, when he got a letter in the mail saying he had to pay some fine -

wait. the two incidents were completely unrelated, i just remembered. he got a letter in the mail saying he had to pay a fine. his car had been sitting dead in his parents' driveway for months, but a douchebag farmington cop happened to drive by and notice that the tabs expired. so the letter said basically "pay this fine for expired tabs or we'll suspend your license."

so darren got new tabs and we went to the dakota county government building, which is where the letter said to go, to pay the fine. i faxed the receipt to the dmv, which is what they instructed us to do, with a letter explaining that the fine ad been paid and darren's license should not be suspended.

fast forward a year. specifically 2:00 this morning. darren had gone out to farmington to see some friends and lo, he got pulled over. because his car was registered to a driver with a suspended license. WHAT?! of course, the cop didn't know when this had happened.

so basically, darren has to go to the dmv today to figure out what the fuck happened, why he was never informed, and try to get it fixed. today. if this doesn't get resolved, we're not going to be able to go to wisconsin tomorrow to see family i haven't seen in approximately three years. for my grandpa's birthday.

and it kind of breaks my heart. like, a lot.

i was walking to the bus stop this morning and felt something in my shoe. it was a penny, and when i shook it out of my shoe it landed heads up. i'm going to pretend that was a sign. a good one.

    :(
