Am I a goth?
Some of you might think that the answer is obviously "yes." After all, I'm posting in a blog with a black background. Others might say "no" for the simple reason that I don't wear all black clothing or indulge in goth activities. Personally, I never considered myself to be a goth or to ever become one. But I was chatting with my favorite goth, Gorthaur, and I suddenly came to the realization: I'm becoming a goth.
Okay, I don't wearing black clothing or put on lots of make-up, but consider the following evidence:
<> I have a cynical world view. From what I know, that's one of the cornerstones of goth culture.
<> Some would say that goths are artistically inclined. I'd say that describes me pretty well.
<> I have a blog. Despite common belief, the blog is not the tool of the emo kid. Rather, emo stole it from the goths.
<> I read a lot of literature. Unlike some people at my school, I see reading break as a gift. I often spend my free time reading. Literature is a very goth thing.
<> My musical tastes have been swinging into goth territory lately. I enjoy classical music, and I just bought a Muse CD today.
Well, there's just some of the things I've noticed. Would love to hear some opinions on this.
