people are mindless
so yesterday i had to get up at 6 AM to drive my mom to a funeral. i never met the guy who died, it is over 2 hours away and i got three hours of sleep the night before, so i am not exactly happy about going. when the service started the priest, minister or whatever they want to call him (it was a catholic service so we'll just settle on sex offender) began talking about the guy who died. the sex offender began by saying how loving and friendly he was, what good values and judgementhe had and how he was always nice to everybody. he then went on to tell how it was because jesus was inside the guy that he had all of these traits and basically said that because this guy was a devout catholic and loved jesus he was a great person. it couldnt possibly be that he was born a good person or that his parents raised him that way or maybe that he had a mind of his own and decided for himself what was right and wrong. nope. all jesus. this guy who just died was not given any credit for being the good person that he was because he chose to be like that, instead jesus recieved every bit of credit for every good deed this guy ever did and his character was devalued by the catholic church. if jesus is taking credit for all the good his followers have done then shouldnt he be taking the blame for their wrong doings? some of his most dedicated followers have proven to be sex offenders, so is it safe to say jesus taught that as well? i dont mean to bash anyones beliefs, it just seems as though the service i went to was VERY inappropriate and proved the church to be quite contradictory . . . on a lighter note "Irish" Mickey Ward and Arturo Gatti are fighting for a third time tonight. it should be one of the best fights in a long time and i am way too worked up about it, i need to get some beer in me to settle down
