You know, looking back at past journal entries, I haven't really written a lot about wrestling. Oh sure, I'll write in something about it here and there, but I never take the time to write out my thoughts about what I see in the product these days, so starting now, I'll be writing my thoughts about shows. Will it be weekly? That's left to be seen, but I can start off things with somewhat of a bang in........ WWE VS ECW Head to Head The special that aired last night to promote the upcoming ECW pay-per-view and relaunch of the company as a brand in WWE was probably one of the better shows I've seen in WWE this year, if not the best show on TV so far this year. It's interesting that on Monday on RAW my hopes on ECW diminised with things like having Randy Orton getting a match against Kurt Angle for the PPV, Angle in itself I'm working on getting use to being in ECW, but I do believe he does fit in the company and when he was announced as a draft pick, it did give ECW some more crediblity going into the pre-work of relaunching. So, the special in itself. The matches I thought were great, well I know seeing Rob Van Dam and Mysterio would deliver anyway, but the Sabu and Cena match was surprisingly good, given that on paper it seem like a clash of styles, but they really made something work. Foley's promo was also very good. Watching it, I almost got that feeling I got from seeing his old anti-hardcore promos in ECW in 95, Foley is just that damn good on the mic and such a promo makes you want to see the PPV on Sunday. I just wish more emotional promos like that would occur with more wrestlers, at least that way, the audience can be more driven and not feel that they are watching someone reading from a script. The Big Show turning on WWE to be in ECW was a nice swerve, although when it happened, as I was exicited that this was such a surprise, I thought, "Ok... he's in ECW, but yet he spent an entire battle royal beating up the ECW guys." So overall, I really dug this show and it gives that feeling of, "I can't wait till this Sunday for the pay-per-view... I can't wait till the relaunch!" In other news, Vanessah is putting on the finishing touches on the CG splash for the chapter 1 starter. If you go to her site for her other comic, EarthBound, she talks about that due to recent events in her life, she is stopping EarthBound. I say, do yourself a favor, everyone, check out the strips in EarthBound. Post a comment in response: |
