"Most people realize that indie bands don't make any money, so when something like that happens, it's not like all of a sudden the band is a sellout...that's the thing that seemed kind of funny...it doesn't matter what the band did all the way up to that point-- you sell one song to a commercial and all of a sudden you're a sellout. "It's like, 'Wait-we're still the same band, just now we have money we can put on this crazy, theatrical production on our next tour.' That was sort of the idea behind it. It was like, well, 'We really want to put on something really spectacular and we don't want to buy all our props at dollar stores. We actually want to put on a really good show, and there's no real money, real budget for that,' so the only way we could get it is if we had some weird thing like this that just falls in your lap, and it's like, 'well here's this big chunk of money.' "And you have to be misrepresented in this atrocious way, and it sucks, and it sucks for everybody who loves the song, but hopefully it'll be worth it on...our January tour. We might be able to put on this crazy production like we really want to do.
