    Paxil Warnings and Reviews
Generally known as paroxetine hydrochloride, Paxil is an antidepressant belonging to the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor drug class. The Food and Drug Administration approved Paxil to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, anxiety disorder and post traumatic stress disorder on adults. It is not prescribed for children below 18 years old since studies weren’t able to confirm its efficacy. Positive effects of the drug are often paired with negative ones, but the outcome is greatly affected with the patient’s cooperation.

Every drug brings negative effects, but a great number of individual report no or minor side effects. Paxil side effects vary widely on its severity; minor negligible side effects or major effects requiring medical attention. Common minor side effects include, but not limited to nausea, blurring of vision, dry mouth, mood changes, numbness or tingling of the skin, change in appetite and diarrhea. Almost all of the effects disappear after a few weeks of intake while only some gets worse. Major side effects of the drug that can lead to serious medical problems necessitate immediate intervention. Some major side effects of the drug are severe allergic reactions, bizarre behavior, chest pain, confusion, decreased concentration and coordination, abnormal heart rhythm and worsening agitation. If any of these effects becomes a hindrance to a smooth everyday living, it is only proper to seek medical help. .

Divulging pertinent information, like medical conditions, current drug therapy, and other health issues, is essential before starting on Paxil. Paxil and Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor should never be taken together. Serious and sometimes fatal reactions can happen if taken together. These drugs must be taken at least 14 days or 2 weeks apart. Paxil is also said to have increased the risk of developing congenital malformations to babies whose mother was exposed to the drug during pregnancy. This drug should not be administered to patients who are allergic to paroxetine.

The side effects, minor and major, have both been reported. Not all patients taking the drug experienced any side effect. Nevertheless, consulting a health care provider before taking the drug is important to maximize the good effects of the drug. In the instance that you have experienced any of these side effect and would like to put some legal actions into it, don’t hesitate to contact any Paxil lawyers. They are available for free consultation.
