A day of rest a rewacksation!
I took a day of swimming today. ah...it was nice to be able to fell my body at the end of the day for the first time in a while. I still had karate tonight though. We ran weapons forms/katas for tournament for the first hour. I'm running my usual form/kata, but with a twist. Instead of wielding the light 5 pound 6 foot tall bo, I am taking on the challenge of swinging around a 5 foot tall 10 pound eku. This weapons, much different from the typical staff, is slightly fatter, maybe an inch and a half thick, and is made from the strongest weapon wood type around, shirido, half of the weapon is a mere staff but the other half is a paddle crafted to do serious damage, the paddle is an inch and a half thick at the cent and thins out into a double bladed weapons at the edges about three inches of paddle on each side. one side being perfectly smooth while the other flat side had a little jut in it. Due to the fact I have a move where I must kick the flat part of the weapon, making sure the blades and particular flat sides are in proper place is crucial in the kata. The fact that I now must swing this massive weapon around my head once hitting the ankles on the way down, then swing it above my head again not stopping, and finally bringing this speeding freaight train to a perfect stop at my neck level holding the very end of the staff with the heavy paddle straight out. Sound hard? It is...you have no idea. anyway, so second hour comes along, I was doing well with weapons but now it's time for empty hand kata/form...one problem, I've been running this kata/form for about a year and a half now and I've managed to get this kata so perfected that no one at our dojo can find anything wrong with it. It's reached a level of perfection where only I myself can sense what is wrong. It looks so good I hope I take a good placing at the tournament. These two categories, weapons and kata, are not the only thing to do at the tournament this febuary. Kumite/sparring, the fighting with pads is soo fun to wach and compete in. Last year I took first in my division, and I'm intending on keeping that title. One will see the best fights from my division seeing as how most of the people competing are my age and wanna show toughness so they hit hard and fast. How wonderful ^_^ we're all like ravenous blood thirsty beasts...heheh. interested in coming to see the tournament? leave a post and I'll get you the information. It's on the weekend of the 8th of febuary. That sunday I believe, can't remember the exact date, but it's in that weekend and it's on that sunday. As if the tournament weren't enough to keep me busy, along with swimming practice and school I have a weapons demonstration which I shall perform in front of some of the highest ranking black belt officials in the country, messing up is not an option, and I've had little time to practice so let's cross our fingers eh? And if thats not enough to keep my brain racked, we can look toward my driving test, failed the first time...failing again is not going to go well if it occurs....mark my words...I will get my licence soon. Along with a contemplative and hopeful love life...my thoughts are set. needless to say...I have plenty to keep my mind and heart on, and I'll need all the support, luck, best wishes, and strength I can get.
