i just got three new cd's from my baby girl for an early birthday present.. i've only listened to two yet so i'll write some reviews

CAVE IN - 'Antenna' :: The first major label debut from the FORMER metalcore heavy hitters from Boston. Traces of fading away from their metalcore roots could be seen on their last release 'Jupiter' but now it would be ridiculous to call them metalcore, hardcore, metal... even emocore. If someone who had never heard Cave In's old stuff listened to this album, they would never have a clue that this band used to be a metalcore band. Now i personally like more aggressive music but i can definitely appreciate this release. The production and sound quality are amazing and the songs are very catchy. Although this isn't my type of music, I would have to say this album might grow on me as The Used, Taking Back Sunday, Thursday and a few other "emo" bands have. Although this album is much more progressive and melodic, it is no ways emo. It sounds more like the Foo Fighters than Saves the Day (which is a very good thing). If you wanted to categorize this album, I would put it under progressive rock or melodic rock. If you were a diehard fan of old Cave In, you will be disapointed by this album, if you've never heard them before or were never really into them that much (like me) I definitely suggest picking this album up
    Final Rating: 3/5

DISEMBODIED - 'Heretic" :: HOLY SHIT!! This album kicks ass. Brutal hardcore and metal pounded together to form one fucking amazing album. I don't know what else to say, if you're a fan of brutal music that will kick your ass just by listening to this.. go buy this album! I don't know how old it is or how hard it will be to find. If you like No Innocent Victim, Indecision, Turmoil, Converge, Blood Has Been Shed etc. etc. I highly recommend this album. If you don't like those bands... get some fucking balls and stop listening to emo!
    Final Rating: 5/5

COALESCE - 'A Safe Place' :: haven't listened to it yet
