    It’s Safety First with Niftylift Work Platforms
    Company flaunts technological breakthroughs in cherry pickers

    Niftylift prides itself in providing work platforms that not only perform work efficiently, but also foster the safety of its customers. The company has gone to great lengths to develop innovative safety devices for its work platform products, earning the praise of the Hire and Rental Industry Association. Its award-winning SiOPS (Sustained Involuntary Operation Prevention System) and Tough Cage technologies are incorporated in some of the company’s high end work platforms such as the Height Rider 17 Hybrid and the Height Rider 21 Hybrid machines.

    Central to the company’s safety measure innovations are the SiOPS and the Tough Cage technologies. Niftylift, which produces trailer, mounted cherry pickers, self drive and self propelled work platforms, track drive access and static base work platforms for a wide array of uses came up with SiOPS in its bid to prevent accidents from happening while using elevated work platforms.

    Niftylift’s SiOPS system was designed to prevent accidents due to involuntary operation of the machine in cases where the operator gets trapped between the cage and an overhead obstruction. SiOPS works by automatically stopping the machine once it senses that the operator is pushed over the controls as in a situation where the operator accidentally gets bumped by an obstruction above. Gordon McGruer of Kardon Kontracts hailed Niftylift’s SiOPS technology as a highly advanced technology. “At least with SiOPS, we're sure of something explicitly seen by people to be the next generation of safety devices,” said McGruer.

    The SiOPS innovation came at a time when there has been much clamour to prevent injuries and fatalities caused by involuntary operation of the machine. Roger Bowden, chairman and founder of Niftylift recognised this need. “There's been a very strong push from the manufacturers saying, ‘hey guys, you've got to do something about this,’” Bowden said. “So we've gone ahead and produced our own system,” he added.

    Niftylift complements the SiOPS safety technology with its proprietary Tough Cage innovation. Tough Cage focuses on an impact resistant design for the company’s work platform cages. Drawing from years of experience in the rental industry, Niftylift developed the cage with a composite base that is guaranteed to absorb strong impact.

    The company touts the technology as an effective safety measure for reducing possible damage to the cage and preventing injury to the operator. Nifty Lift’s Tough Cage is also designed for easy replacement of parts in case a portion gets damaged.

    Niftylift, believes that its safety technologies give it added advantage in the highly competitive rental industry. As in all its product designs, the safety features are added to enhance the product quality of its elevated work platform. Each of Niftylift’s product design is guaranteed to service the requirements of customers, however small or big the operation. “We have always found the machines to be highly specified and well designed,” attested Julie Smyth of Highway Plant, an Ireland based customer of Niftylift.
