Alumni Arrives
Severus Snape was running a tight schedule. Breakfast finished just before Sirius was due to arrive- and his first class started shortly after. He walked as hurriedly as he could without it being obvious that he was rushing. Minerva had graciously offered to escort him to his own rooms- as he would be tired from the journey, she said. He was eminently grateful and showed it as much as he could- which was not very, but it was there. He entered the rooms just before they got onto the corridor.
Sirius kept his head bent low, and chuckled and joked with Minerva. He stopped talking just as they reached the door to the Potion's Class room from a less known route, and he sent a mental greeting. Honey, I'm home...
Oh so this is home now... Honestly your home is wherever you lay yourself to sleep some people have absolutely no discernment... He was still grumbling mentally, half-heartedly, as he Sirius was entering the room, at which point he looked first over Sirius' shoulder for company, body language decidedly closed. He was a private person.
Minerva only paused to peek in the door, to see that Severus was there to recieve Sirius, and then with a poorly concealed smirk, she nodded, and said in a quiet tone, "Gentlemen..." then turned and left, heading for her classroom, and students. "Thanks again for the escort Minerva!" Sirius called out after her, then stepped into the room proper, and shut the door behind him, his eyes locked on Severus'. He gave him a crooked grin, and set his traveling bag down. "You are looking fit." he said.
Snape looked Sirius up and down openly appraising him, at the same time as he said; "Which is more than I can say for you," the automatic, and probably already-heard reply. There was no real malice in most of his teasing. It was a force of habit. He stopped his assessment and looked Sirius in his eyes again, his voice a little less harsh if it was possible. "I apologise for not coming myself, but my third years have been misbehaving at meal times of late and I needed to ensure they got the message..." he still felt a little guilty at having the pastoral side to his work cut down, but only when he wasn't using that time better with other people.
Sirius' expression changed, but only in his eyes, he was good at masking things, always had been. He hadn't wanted to hear a slight as a first greeting from his mate, he was going to be on his best behaviour, best foot forward and all. Then he remembered who he was married to. Warm and fuzzy, reassuring and supportive/ No chance in Hell. "It's alright Severus. I know above all your career must come first..." he said in a soft tone, then stepped farther into the room, giving it a cursory glance around as he looked for a place to set his belongings and a coattree for his outter wear.
"Hmph, tell that to the Headmaster..." came the grumbled response, and he followed Sirius' wandering eyes with his own, trying to guess what he was looking for. "Has the place changed that much since you were here last?" he asked, getting his wand out to shrink Sirius' bags and send them into the private rooms further inside.
Sirius looked down as his bags suddenly shrunk, then floated off into the other room. He shrugged out of his coat, then unwound the yards of scarf, and went over to the coat tree to hang them up. "No, it has not changed much. I still like to look around at what new horrors you might have put in jars since my last visit..." he said drolly, then walked over toward the fire, and considered slumping down in the chair before it, but instead turned, resting his hand on the high upholstered back and turned to look at Severus again. "How long till you have to dash off to class?"
"Now," Severus replied, and looked a little crestfallen. If he could look like that. His voice was certainly less animated, and he shot a semi-pleading glance at Sirius, like a child begging its mother to keep it off sick for just this once. That faded almost as soon as it got there, however, as he steeled himself s best he could. Sirius didn't need to see him like that.
Sirius gave him a brave smile. "I will be fine here alone at home Daddy..." he teased, then walked over to place a lingering kiss on the Potion Master's cheek. "Go now, or I shall have to give yo the paddle for being tardy to class. I shall see you at dinner, or perhaps in your mind if I feel like interrupting..." he teased, then pulled back.
Severus growled and rubbed his fae against Sirius' a moment, eyes closed. "I'll give you the bleeding paddle..." he said, huffily. "No doubt they will all be late anyway... Till dinner then. And don't do anything that would have me scrub your mind out with soapy water; it simply will not do to have the Head of House carrying on like a hormonal teenager just because he happens to have a partner who acts like one..." he prodded, and reached out to grab Sirius' backside as he scooted backwards, before heading out fast to avoid retribution. I can always have Albus send you back... or chain you up outside... he threatened playfully.
He wouldn't do it you Lecherous Old Git. came the reply, then Sirius' thoughts turned to ...upping the fire, and finding something to eat, after putting on one of Severus' robes and slippers of course, and Oh! What is THAT on the desk? Hm.....
