    the traveling matchbox
Each week, a decorated matchbox with a tiny present hidden inside is left by a girl (and sometimes willing friends) somewhere in her travels. It's a random act of semi-artistic kindness aimed at disrupting someone's day in a tiny but positive way. That's if they dare to pick it up...

My show ended at the ACP gallery ended a couple weeks ago and whilst I'm sad to have it end, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to show there. I loved the shows that were in the other galleries (so much so that I ended up doing a story on one of them for work, my first video story - watch it here!) and the staff were so encouraging and supportive.

Check out the final destination of some of the boxes here:
View full Matchbox Treasure Hunt! in a larger map - they really did make it far! To the US, UK, Iceland, Denmark, Dubai and to most states and territories in Australia. Thank you to everyone who helped!!! And for letting me know where you left the boxes, glad everyone was able to participate and have fun.

One particularly enthusiastic visitor has done something very interesting with a matchbox. My Dad emailed me after visiting the gallery to let me know that he had left 2 boxes in his travels and had decided to keep a third, which he now refers to as the traveling matchbox. Much like the gnome in Amelie, he makes sure it travels far and wide, documenting it at every chance. It's really quite comical, but then that's my Dad for you.

And so here is a small sampling of where the box has been so far. Maybe one day he'll leave it for good but for now, it will continue to travel.

    Happy Fathers Day!
