    Davis dieticians face seven decisions

    CLEARFIELD -- Modifications in seven public health regulations, including one related to tattoo designs, could be adopted with the Davis County Board of Health early today.

    The health board meeting is scheduled for 7 a. m. inside the county health department board room, 22 S. State St. , Clearfield.

    A "mega" public hearing for the seven regulations occured Oct. 18, with only five the public attending, said Bob Ballew, Davis County Health Department public information officer.

    Two males who are connected with a body-art business attended the hearing and expressed desire for the proposed alteration of the department's body-art regulations. Meanwhile, three other folks attended the hearing within a Boy Scout merit badge effort, Ballew said.

    Davis Health Board member and former Kaysville mayor Brian Cook, served because the hearing officer for the county.

    The board looks to update public health regulations associated with scavenging/hauling, tanning, regularly, infectious waste, waste water, tattoo designs and food service.

    The biggest proposed change involves the department's food service regulations, which may let the shaved-ice businesses during the entire county also to serve single-serve frozen treats, Davis County Health Department Director Lewis R. Garrett said.

    "The board has authority to issue or promulgate public health ordinances. Over the years, they've got promulgated 13 health regulations. We love to to update them periodically to ensure these are still relevant," Garrett said.

    One change needed for the county's health regulations is to list within them any related fees to be assessed towards the public, Garrett said.

    He said this department makes every effort to update its health regulations every 5 years.
