It has been a long, long week.

It has also been a college visit time, and will be a college visit time in 2 more days.

Visiting Chicago University, Carlton College, Columbia University, Cornell, Penn U.

The immediate problem with all of these is that they are pretty top flight schools. And my grades are pretty un-top flight.

And the traffic in Chicago is hellish, it took my father and me two hours to get out of the city. Each of the three times we tried.

Now, the nice thing about Chicago is that it (at least, it seems to) maintain the small non-research college emphasis on the student rather than the huge OSUesque churning out of focused, rather narrowly educated professionals (which I am sure is great for some people, just not me).

And the area around is no longer serious, dieifyoumove ghetto.

And it is sort of in Chicago.

However, the electrical lines there look so very sad at night. It's vaguely depressing looking up and seeing the omnipresent haze of industry.

Now, the nice thing about Carlton is that it is a nice small non-research college. I am just not sure that I could live for four years in Northfield, Minnesota.

I'll just apply to both and see what the hell happens.

Maybe, with luck, I can get into one of my 5 first choice colleges.

I am home for two days, then I am back out on visits.
Then school starts soon after I get back.
I need to do well in school.
    Set goals, John, set goals.
