    "Without You" by Silverchair

    Story TIME!

Ok, I know the following story that
I wrote is horrible or something, but
Zig Zag said it was good, and I want
to see what everyone else thinks, so
    here.

I sighed and drummed my fingers boredly on my desk. I looked from the chipping black fingernail polish on my fingers, to the window. I was pretty big, I mean, why would you need such large windows in a school? I glanced across the street at an abandoned house, there was a cat sitting on the second step, it was playing with something with its paws. I grinned, that cat was so carefree, it didn’t have to worry about rules, school, teachers, parents, or anything really. How wonderful it would be to be a cat. I watched as something gray scurried out from under the cat’s paw and it ran into a bush. The cat made no attempt to chase it; it just jumped up to the railing and began licking itself.

Just then, the bell that sounded the end of first period sang out from the speaker on the wall and it snapped me back into reality. No more cat, no more porch, no more silence. There was a loud buzz of talking and kids playing in the hall, the kids in Mr. Jones’ class rushed into the hall. I gathered my books and stood up, as I did, someone shoved me hard from behind. I stumbled and my books fell to the ground with a loud thud. I heard someone growl and some other kids laugh.

“Freak” A familiar voice said, and I felt a hand grab the back of my neck. Where was the teacher? Wouldn’t he stop this? I turned around to see Alexander Brown standing in front of me, a scowl planted on his lips. I blinked and in an instant, two other boys had come up on either side of me, grabbing a hold of my arms. I struggled a bit, but there was no use, they were much stronger then me. Then Alexander began punching me, in my stomach, in the face, and kicking me. The last thing I heard before everything faded was Alexander growling and screaming “DIE!” In my ear, then it was gone and I was in wonderful black silence.

I don’t know how long I had been unconscious but it must have been a while. When I woke up, my right eye was swollen so bad I couldn’t even open it, I had a fat lip and my stomach hurt like hell! I could hear the squeaking of rubber shoes on the tile floor and some talking, but I couldn’t tell what they were saying. I didn’t feel like talking to anyone, so I closed my eyes and thought of that cat on the railing, soon I drifted to sleep.

That had been me a week ago, now I was just sitting in my room, doing absolutely nothing. I have a black eye, but I can at least open it, and my lip has returned to normal size, my stomach doesn’t hurt anymore either. It was Monday today, a school day, but I asked my mother if I could stay home and she agreed, because she never liked to see me in pain.

And who exactly am I? I’m Josh. You don’t need to know my last name, because I doubt any of this will even matter in the end. I am known as “Freak” to everyone in my school, maybe I deserve it though, because I’m different from everyone else there. I have straight black hair with blood red tips, I let it just hang in my eyes because I could care less about it. I have really pale skin, I’m not very athletic, and I hate going outside. I happen to wear all black and I think I am the only guy I know who wears make-up. Nothing too bad, just some eyeliner and sometimes some black lipstick. I guess when you are sixteen and look like that, you are just automatically labeled a freak. But I could honestly care less, they would regret calling me names and beating me up in the end.

Tuesday I went to school because I had to show up sometime. I had my usual black clothes on and my make-up, a black backpack hung over both my shoulders. I sighed and walked to first period Science, with Mr. Jones and his high girly voice, the scene of last weeks crime. I tried not to think about it as I walked in and took my usual spot in the back of the class. Mr. Jones wasn’t here yet, which was weird, he was usually very punctual. I shrugged and began sketching on my desk.

Just then the door opened and Mr. Jones entered, but someone else entered behind him. A girl, no a STUDENT. The class had been talking loudly and throwing scrunched up paper balls everywhere, has suddenly grown quiet. They were all staring at the girl, she wasn’t like the rest of them either. She was like me, she wore all black and she wore thick black make-up, she had a spiked collar around her neck. Our eyes caught each other for a moment, before I looked down at my desk.

“Okay class, settle down.. We have a new student.. This is Roxanne....” Mr Jones said, but before he could continue Roxanne spoke up, she had a soft yet demanding voice.
“It’s Roxy.” She growled as she crossed her arms and looked around again, from the back there was some laughter and that familiar voice spoke up once again. “Freak!” My eye twitched and I looked over to see Alexander sitting there with his usual crowd around him. The whole class broke into laughter. Well, everyone but me. I looked over to Roxy, it didn’t really phase her that he said that. She just looked back at me, as if nothing had been said.

“Okay, okay.. Enough!” Mr. Jones yelled, and the laughter died. “Roxan... I mean, Roxy, you can sit over there by Josh.” He pointed in my direction and Roxy stalked over, sitting down in the desk next to me. I looked over at her and couldn’t help but smile.
“Hey.” I said, looking at her with a goofy grin on my face. She looked over at me and raised a pierced eyebrow.
“Hi.” She said coldly and then looked up to the teacher who had began his lessons for the day. I smirked and looked over to the teacher as well, I thought me and her would become friends, because sometimes you do need people like you to hang out with, you can’t just live your life getting beat up everyday. I looked out the window, the abandoned house was still there, but no cat today. I sighed and stared out the window, waiting for the boring class to end.

Again, the bell brought me back to reality. I shook my head and looked around, everyone was standing up and rushing out the door. I stuffed my books in my backpack and stood up, looking over to see Roxy just sitting there, I guess she was waiting for everyone to leave, but then she stood up and headed toward the door. I followed her, looking down at the floor, but she had stopped and I almost ran into her. I walked around to the side of her to see why she had stopped. It was Alexander and the two guys who had held my arms while he beat me. They were blocking the way. Roxy rolled her eyes and tried to push her way through.

“Ah ah ah freak, you aren’t getting past us.” Alexander said an evil scowl crossed his lips. He turned his attention to me and studied me, I could tell he was looking at my eye to see how much damage he had done.
“Now there’s TWO of you I can beat the shit out of.” He laughed and the two guys next to him stepped forward. One grabbed me and the other grabbed Roxy, she growled and began wailing her arms and kicking her feet. Her foot struck Alexander in the shin and he growled. I did the same and got out of the guys grip, looking over I noticed Roxy had gotten out of the other guys grip as well, they looked shocked and then shook their heads and went for us again. I jumped out of the way and the guy fell over. I stood on his back and looked to Roxy who had kicked the guy in the stomach and he was doubled over. She grinned and turned her gaze to Alexander who was surprised to see us fighting back. He backed up, then ran down the hall.

That was when me and Roxy became friends. I looked over at her and grinned. She grinned back and we walked out of the classroom, the two guys were laying on the floor groaning and climbing to their feet. They watched us leave and shrugged, walking in the other direction.

Well thats it for now, Zig Zag thinks
I should finish it, and I might, sometime.

    Later!
