So the big challenge really is finding ways to work with grammar, which I can at least partially do on my own, goodness knows I have enough textbooks now, plus there is a great grammar practice book from Hueber that I think I'll get, and speaking. I will also note that GI has a correspondance one-on-one program that you can do via email (since the teacher is probably in Germany). Which I plan to look into for the fall. I could take it at the B2 level to solidify what I've learned here, and then move into the B2.3/C1.1 class in the fall in Washington, assuming it is not on Thursdays. Speaking is the hard part. I need to become faithful about the monthlz Washington Area Stammtisch, and I should make a regular lunch date with Carol, who was also in Berlin and is also interested in meeting regularly to talk. And there are certainly others at GI Washington. If I can manage a conversation period a week, I'll be happy. Well, Mark arrived safe and sound this morning just before 11:00. After renting a bright yellow Peugot, we drove to Bad Godesberg, and I oriented him, and sent him off on U-Bahn to the Museumsmeile, where he'll visit the Kunst und Austellungshalle. One last warning for my friends at home. This has been a wonderful trip, and this journal has only scratched the surface of my experiences here. Be careful asking about it when I get home, I am likely to talk for hours. And if you're someone who has followed this who I don't know, Id be very interested in feedback. One friend suggested I continue blogging, though I am not sure about it. Takes a lot of time, especially auf Deutsch, but it is also great practice. Although the friend in question speaks no Deutsch, so I suspect he meant in English. Tschüss! Post a comment in response: |
