When will it happen?
The whole secondment to Shanghai thing is kicking up again. It's been very stop-and-start (well, it has been more of an inch forward than any real start, really.) The reason why I haven't been able to go sooner, as I understand it, is that they are having a bit of trouble getting someone from Shanghai, in exchange, to cover me. My boss was just telling another partner that he wants someone with "similar English-writing standards" from the Shanghai firm in exchange. Then, compounding the difficulty of it all, there's the issue of my potential replacement actually wanting to come to HK. I don't see why or how coming to Shanghai would be enticing to a manager of my level, really. Perhaps only the tax rate.
All in all, it's tricky business.
I'd like to go, soon, for a lot of reasons. For my resume. For a bit of a change of scene (but not too much - growing older has made me rather unadventurous). For a chance to stretch my legs alone. For a bit of space to sort out my personal life.
Well, 八字没一撇... akan datang.
