So I saw the commerical for the new iPod nano last night. I was intrigued, and decided to do a little investigating. Now I feel compelled to write. The nano actually replaced the mini. One would have to wonder why. I think that at least half of all people I know have a mini... if not for their inexpensiveness than for their color. I know that I love mine in all it's green glory (heck, the color is half the reason I can't bring myself to buy a case...). Your color says something about yourself. The casing for the mini is pretty prone to scratches. So is the back of the regular iPod, though. I guess it just seemed to me as if they didn't keep the mini around for very long. Didn't they just introduce the 6G mini? However, when looking at the lineup of iPods on the top of the apple website, the nano does fit in much better. It shares the sleek design of the rest, and it is offered in white or black. And as far as color freaks go, they have "tubes" (basically form-fitting cases) and armbands in a variety of hues. I love the options... you can have your sleek, shiny iPod out when you're in a sleek and shiny mood (no, I'm not talking about shampoo) or spice it up a bit to reflect your inner color. I need to stop reading so deeply into the significance of the iPod design. Honestly, the only real downfall I could think of (besides the fact that it's a flash drive rather than a hard drive... not sure how I feel about that) is the fact that a device this small could not possibly have a decent battery life. Well, I was wrong. The website claims it's battery will last up to 14 hours. The mini's claim is only 8 hours (and mine only lasts about 4). Well, I'm sold. Two problems, however. One - I JUST got my mini last Christmas. It'd be a frivilous purchase to get a new one. Unless I sold mine to someone else for, oh, $200 and invested that toward a nano... Nevermind... Two - I'm in debt. That's what I get for getting a credit card and not watching my spending. Oops. However, since I don't actually plan to buy a nano anytime soon, this would be the perfect opportunity to buy all those mini accessories I've been wanting. They should be going on sale soon, right?
