    ELLO! XMEN!
THIS GIRL IS SO FUNNY! I found it on one her journal's but I don't know her name. Anyway!

February 6, 1998 -- I spent the other night having a philsophical debate with XXX

GIRL'S COMMENT:i've blanked out the names cause i don't know these ppl and though it was online i felt i shouldn't go publishing it with names of ppl i don't know. and his roommate's boyfriend about video games and the X-Men. I wish it had been about something more important, but it was one of the most interesting conversations I've had in quite some time. The topic? Cyclops.
In case you're fuzzy on it, Cyclops is the X-Men character that shoots a beam of pinkish-purple light out of his eyes.
GIRLS'S COMMENT: i just want to interject here that i've always thought Scott's mutation was one of the silly ones. i mean why would we evolve laser eyes? what possible purpose do they have? but i digress. His real name is Scott Summers and he's a very interesting character. I'm convinced he's gay. So is XXX's roommate XXX's boyfriend, YYY, who in case you couldn't guess, is gay. XXX simply won't accept it. "But he's married to Jean Grey, and she's just about as sexy as female comic book characters get and still are fully clothed!" So he's married to some really sexy comic book chick. Big deal. It's a cover. She's probably a lesbian. YYY agreed with that too.
    GIRL'S COMMENT: Scott's gay, Jean's a lesbian and their marriage is a cover-up. nah.

My reason? He's a big, muscular comic character. In the video game he's got several different colored costumes...one is, and I quote YYY so it doesn't sound like I'm a terrible, gay-bashing person..."a very fruity teal". GIRL'S COMMENT: lol!! "what would you prefer, yellow spandex?" ah, comic costumes. *smiles*

But it is one of the coolest costumes I've ever seen. GIRL'S COMMENT: um, no, but that's ok. to each his own.

Also in the game, every time he pops onto the screen he gives a big hearty "Yes!". Very Captain America of him, don't you agree? So at the very least, he's a really fruity person. GIRL'S COMMENT: apparently Captain America is gay, too. but we all knew that.

Another reason is that he took FOREVER to ask Jean Grey out. I did my research and found out that it was almost 60 issues of the comic until they STARTED a relationship and almost 300 until marriage. Considering the fact that they 'liked' each other from issue 1, AND that Jean Grey is a super-powerful psychic, don't you think it should have taken less time? XXX says "He's shy.", I say "He's trying to appear straight without the commitment, but he couldn't avoid it forever. GIRL'S COMMENT: well, yes, it did take forever. but Jean died-and-returned more than once and Scott did marry her clone in the meantime...

Another reason? Jean Grey had her choice of men...Cyclops or Wolverine. As for Wolverine: he's almost certainly straight, he's VERY cool, and he worships the ground Jean Grey walks on. If I was Jean Grey, I probably would have chosen Wolverine, but that's just my opinion. Cyclops is a little too fruity. Wolverine is a little hairy and he's got some violent tendencies that need to be addressed by a professional, but he's quick-witted and passionate. Cyclops says stuff like "Let's hit 'em hard and fast" while Wolverine's quotes are more along the lines of "Tell Cyclops I made him a convertible" (after tearing the entire roof off of Cyclops' car because Jean Grey chose him instead of Wolverine. That woman absolutely TROD on poor Wolverine's heart but he STILL loved her). I personally think Cyclops had a crush on Wolverine. GIRL'S COMMENT: this is why i had to share with ppl - i just loved this paragraph. i mean it made me laugh, it made me smile, it made me happy. the Scott/Jean/Logan triangle is a big part of why i luv the x-men and this pat characterization was pretty dead on - i mean i'd add all sorts of whys and wherefores and angsty discussion but for a few sentences this works y'know? and THEN:

But if I REALLY were Jean Grey I would have turned evil and just gone for Magneto. He's the sexiest evil mutant that was every created. He's gigantic, but he's more like a James Bond villian than any other comic character I can think of. He's well groomed, extremely intelligent, and he's completely insane. Not in the strange drooling and muttering sense, but in that 'take over the world' sense. That's very sexy in the James Bond villian way. GIRL'S COMMENT: bwahahahaha! i never looked at Magneto as a Bond Villian or a possibility for Jean but ZZZ made it work for me. my xchan just *loves* Magneto and really wants to be like him the way i wanna be like Jean and so this just made it all so good, ne? ne? i gotta agree though that as far as Evil Mutants go Magneto is pretty damn sexy. esp. as portrayed by Ian McKellan. i mean i gotta say it - Ian is by far the sexiest gay old guy there ever was. i don't care that he's sixty and i don't care that he's gay i would do him in an instant (in that parallell universe where we get to do celebrities and our own commitments are unaffected of course).

Granted, Magneto is evil, and he does kill tons of people every time he shows up, but he's got style. I don't mean fashion sense either...purple and red isn't the best combinations I can think of. But he's just cool. In the video game, he says "Play time has ended" all slow and cool. I'll try and get a wav of it so you can hear. He has some wicked cool moves too.

XXX thinks I have a problem, and I think he takes it personally that Cyclops has been forcefully outed by YYY and myself. He'll get over it. ;) GIRL'S COMMENT: i just thought this was just such a cute little discussion of silly Cyclops (who i love for his goofiness, don't get me wrong - he's riduiculous but he certainly has his place and he's creeped into my favorites circle quite unexpectedly - but for the record (and Than) he's still a dork. just a lovable one.), Jean (who's not a lesbian, but who has trod on Wolvie's heart a few times.), Wolvie (i agree, very not gay. very dedicated. very sexy. love that man.) and Magneto (the surprise highlight of my evening.). ZZZ, whoever you are, i quite enjoyed your discussion and i hope you don't mind i shared it with my friends ;)

btw, in other movie news...in the novelization of X2 Jean doesn't die. that whole bit just doesn't happen, which means they weren't sure which way they were going to go in the next one when they wrote/filmed it. i find this interesting because there were some flaws in Jean's death scene (namely the fact that many of the mutants there might've saved her - Bobby's Ice, Nightcrawler's teleport, Professor X's Time Stop ability, etc) but if it were a last minute decision i can forgive them a little (and if she gets to be the star of the next ie Phoenix Saga i can forgive them a lot). anyway, X2's better than the Matrix, but if you've any interest in Matrix go see that anyway...it will surely suffer on video no matter what surround sound super DVD system you've got going!!

yah - i saw X2 :) here's my thoughts - if you haven't seen it you may not want to read further cause i'm gonna mention all sorts of stuffs that might just fall under "spoiler" teehee:

as all the reviewers and ppl have said this one's very character driven and me being me (i love character) i liked it a lot. there were quite a few character plots going on that had little or nothing to do with the thruline plot, but what was interesting was how they blended the "character plots" into the main plot - like Wolvie's past and Jean coming into her full power. anyway, over all i liked it a lot. Rogue and Cyclops had little to do (Rogue i missed, Cyclops not so much) and Pyro could have used a little more screentime to explain his whole deal (but i guess he can get that in the next one). Bobby was adorable, esp. in his scenes with Wolverine. Storm was much better in this one and had great interaction with Nightcrawler, who's effects were really cool and whose persona was even better. Professor X still had very little to do and really even less that last time cause he only had the one scene with Magneto (the X-Magneto scenes were key in the first one). Magneto and Mystique were just that good - i mean they were adorable and yet still dignified villians. Mystique just rules anyway. she always gets the best lines and her attitude rocks. i keep waiting for the revelation that she's Rogue's mum, but no go. i was waiting for it when Rogue noticed Magneto and Mystique were watching her but instead they were just laughing at her (i repeat those two are too cute!). Wolvie was his usual super self but my heart, like his, belongs to Jean Grey.

but before we get to Jean, let's talk about how many ppl were killed in this film. Wolvie killed quite a few of Stryker's strikers during the attack on the school - now he was left to guard them all so i guess i'll forgive him a little but i think he was a lil violent. then there was Pyro's let's burn ev'rybody when the cops come to call...but i think no one actually died and it appeared they weren't even hurt...how i don't know, but we'll give them the benefit of the doubt. but Magneto, Magneto definately blew up a lot of ppl (including Methos, poor boy). now Magneto is a bad guy so he's allowed (i mean he was trying to destroy *all* non-mutants, so a corridor full of soldiers who were trying to kill *all* mutants is not such a big deal). but wow, look at that death toll.

anyway, Jean Grey. now, maybe it's cause i came out Jean in the quiz but i really liked her in this film. but, really, i recall liking Jean in the comics days - her only fault was her devotion to Cyclops (he's such a square!) and one of my zillions of never-played rpg characters was "a cross between Tom Paris and Jean Grey". in the movie, however, i really liked her devotion to Cyclops (even though he's still a square - he dresses better than Wolvie and he really loves her) and her "you flirt with the rebel, you take the hero home" attitude toward Wolvie...she still really seemed to care if he was ok or not. and then there was her own character-plot, that she'd always been a lil afraid of her power, that she let ev'rybody save her instead of asserting herself. that was so me. the only thing i didn't like was that they didn't play up her death at all, i guess they thought everybody knew she wasn't really dead so they didn't have to really do much about it. some kind of farewell *something* would have been nice y'know? i mean what if there's no X-3 (unlikely but possible) for her to come back in? and what about the ppl who don't know she comes back as Phoenix? oh, well. my point: i luv Jean Grey, her attitude, her compassion, her fears, her courage, her love...hey, even her haircut ;)

    SHE'S GREAT!!!

I also made another journal. FamkeHughFanFic. That's the name. Pretty much speaks for itself. AY!?!?!?!
