Pope John Paul II RIP


It's diffifult really, to think of something to say. I'm a quite devout catholic and in a sense, this is a bit like the death of a family member for me. Not a close family member, as obviously I didn't know him well personally, but a family member that you're fond of, for whatever reason.

I don't always agree with the teaching of the church, especially that on certain forms of contraception, but the Pope did a lot of good for those who have suffered - helping to bring about the fall of communism and speaking out against war and conflict. Also, he has inspired a lot of people, young and old, to do a lot of good. At least a million young people gathered together for the last world youth day, and friends of mine that went were incredibly moved by what he had to say to them.

It is very sad that he's gone, but he has suffered greatly over the last few years and has spent a long time serving the church. I hope whoever suceeds him can do as good a job.
