This Is It
The nearest to attending a Michael Jackson's concert would be This Is It; watching the rehearsal footages has gotta be the next best thing ever.
I won't say that i'm a fan of the MJ but you gotta give the man due credit. He really IS the King of Pop and i am thankful to have caught the show. From the audition of the dancers who had to be the right 'fit', to the soundchecks to get the right sound and tempo, to the construction of intricate setups for some of his classic best and the fervour and dedication to the performance of each song; all i can say is, WOW, the man as he was really knew how to entertain and was committed to put on his best for his fans. Simply awesome.
It was also surreal to finally watch the full footage to They Don't Care About Us, after watching snippets of it on almost every night when i was in Perth. And i got to see the really talented guitarist Orianthi Panagaris in action and boy does she have nimble fingers or what. She was fantastic really, along with the drummer whom i can't recall the name now but only the nick of 'Sugarfoot'. Of coz, the rest of the musicans on board were great too, just that these two left deep impressions of me, especially the former, whom i labelled as the blonde guitarist from Australia.
The movie is actually the rehearsal footages combined and edited into a film so don't be disappointed if you don't get to see footages of MJ as a child, growing up, his kids and Neverland, as what my colleague thought it was to be. Oh and apparently i was the only one who had to control the urge to clap at the end of each performance rather than at the end of the movie -_-'''
I shan't say much in order not to burst anyone's bubble but please do go watch it if you can get your hands on the tickets.
