Hurrah for random weekend excursions!
Wow. This is one random last day of the 4 day weekend. Jim, John, Mom and I went to the 3M rock quarry in Bell Mead and took the quarry tour. Who ever thought we had a rock quarry so close? They crush rocks to tinny granules and then put a colored ceramic coating on them. The colored granules supply the coating that shingles have on them. The rocks are the colored coating on asphalt roof shingles! I never knew that! This quarry supplies the granules for the entire northwest. The quarry was amazing! Breathtakingly beautiful and very deep. I think the deepest it went was 800ft or something! I’m working at 4:30 and I need to take a shower because I'm covered in rock dust! Hurrah for random weekend excursions!
