So, today was my day off. I started the day by getting up early to go get my oil changed at Randy's. Pretty standard. I've known my brakes were getting bad for a while, but I wasn't prepared for the list of repairs that were handed to me after being there for 30 minutes. I need new brake pads, new brake rotors, oil pan gasket, and a new timing belt package, which if not corrected, will fuck up my engine beyond repair. Estimated damage? 1000 bucks. I do not have this kind of money. Soooooo...I talked to my "personal banker" (Mom) and "financial advisor" (Christopher) and they both agreed that putting that kind of money into a 7 year old car is not worth it. So this evening I spent at the Honda dealership trying to iron out a deal. God willin' and the creek don't rise, I will have a 2005 Civic by Friday morning. Please say a prayer for me that this works out. I am being very positive and hoping it comes through. I have never had a BRAND NEW CAR, so this possibility is quite exciting!
Matty's birthday was yesterday, the old man turned 24. I've organized the surprise birthday party at Maggiano's for Saturday night--he thinks that it's just me and Josh taking him out to Firebirds (I told him he could order elk medallions and it would be my treat)...little does he know that like a dozen people are secretly meeting. Muuhahahahaha. I hope they sing to him in Italian.
Read Another Bullshit Night in Suck City by Nick Flynn. It is remarkable, utterly beautiful.
Alright, off to bed....Dean Smith signing is tomorrow night and also, wish me luck, break a leg, say a prayer for the car.
