I would have been expelled
Sixteen year old Ryan Richter was suspended and subsequently expelled from his high school this week for drawing a stick figure shooting another stick figure on his notebook. News-Press.com is carrying this article about the incident.
I don't know about you, but I used to doodle things every now and then that had a violent nature, and as anyone that knows me will attest, I would never even consider becoming violent with someone. If I was at this school I would have been kicked out too. I agree with the parents that the school needs to take a look at the larger picture. Zero tolerance policies are becoming a bit to prevalent for my taste. Every time something happens it should be examine as an individual infraction to be judged on the person and what they really did, not a broad enforcement of policy.
