    When you desire to manage and route all call traffic pertaining to you and your business, then you should consider acquiring a PBX or private branch exchange for your company company phone.

    If you’re interested in acquiring a private branch exchange for your enterprise, you have two choices. You can go for the traditional, landline system or an internet-based, VoIP phone system. A landline provate branch exchange might be acquired from your local telephone company and is the most common type of PBX in the market. A VoIP private branch exchange may be downloaded from a service provider online.

    A private branch exchange is composed of a set of telephony devices connected to a main telephone line through a switchboard. You might have to wait a few days but you don’t really have to do anything but arrange your workplace and figure out the physical setup. A VoIP system, however, needs the following:

    a. Codecs - for audio file recognition
    b. Speakers, mics and headsets - to replace telephone handsets
    c. IP telephone adapters - you need these if you want to use PSTN phones for your VoIP system
    d. Sound cards - for audio data processing

    2. Costs - in case your IT infrastructure is up to the installation, you don’t need to spend for anything additional for the applications the service provider provides you with. Because you operate using your own gear and internet connection, they could only charge you for their cloud-based computing service. Landline systems, on the other hand, ask for steep installation fees since you procure all the equipment you'll need from them. You have to pay for the use of their dedicated phone lines and the equipment they install. According to how big your system is, you might need to shell out a significant amount of money for your company phone.

    3. Ease of use - if you’re familiar with computers, a VoIP private branch exchange is a lot simpler to utilize than a proprietary switch. Modifying and changing the way your switch and telephone network works is also less complicated on your office PCs than on a complicated switchboard.

    If your enterprise isn’t using any computers or internet connection, then a landline system is the best system for you. When you have good IT infrastructure in your office, then maybe a VoIP PBX will help you save money while allowing you to carry out advanced telephony functions.
