Politics.. Labor vs. Liberal
This entry is all about politics.. so....... ^^ ** BUT i cant get over the fact that australians still wanna choose howard!! Its REALLY REALLY boggling me... i know politics are always debatable--- but my opinions here are based on the facts --- which are so OBVIOUS that i have no idea why australians just dont get it.!
Below is a message by someone --- which says EXACTLY what i wanted to say.... couldnt have said better:
"What's important to you as an Australian? Seriously without getting into a political mud slinging match what policies are you most interested and do you think a Howard or Latham Government would best represent your needs & why. I was somewhat impressed with Latham speech in regards to Medicare Gold & redistibution of funds to Government schools.
The reason I ask is that I would really like to gage if people trully understand the issues and if the current government has addressed those issues & if they have impacted on your life for the better or for the worse or if we are somewhat confused. I would also like to know how under the current Howard Government whether your personal circumstances have improved as much as he says it has. I'm thinking we should use our personal experience as a benchmark as to whether Howard is realistically fullfilling the needs of the people.
I know he talks bout the economy doing well & that's all very well but the ecomony refers to business performance not our own personal finances or economic situation & this is where I find that many people are confused. (( EXACTLY )) Lets try & seperate fact from fiction in this political arena & offer information to each other to best help us in this process. Lets leave assumptions aside & deal with facts, the good & the bad & the ugly of both political parties so we can make a more informed vote. Lets put things in our perspective not the the PM's perspective.
I'm trying to convey that we need to be better informed & being responsible in our support to this current leadership and future Leadership. Howard wants to bring this country to the level of the US and have an economic superpower and nothing is wrong with that but what is wrong is that the economic growth we have experienced has not been redistributed back into the country or it's resources and it has been at the price of the everyday citizen, you & me. Howard has continually said the countries economy is doing great yet why are our hospitals & government schools & aged care & medicare faciltites suffering? Lets use common sense here. One minute he says we are doing well then the next minute we challenge him on public funding for much needed resources and he back pedals and says we don't have the money for it , it's a state issue not a federal issue, then all of a sudden come election time he gives the $3000 baby bonus & $600 FPB then he miraculously he has $6 billion dollars to spend to buy our votes? Why are we not questioning this? -- (( HA HA IRONIC !!!! ))
My concern is that Howard has publically declared his dislike for Medicare and the likes of Public Education and has tried to bring it to it's knees with the demise of bulk billing and lack of funding to government healthcare and education. Increase of hecs fees so only the financially priveldged have the oppotunity for education. Seriously as a citizen does this not concern you? Forgett about the country's economy for a moment think about your own personal economy and how his decisions have effected you on a personal financially level. We have the implementation of the GST in which he publicly announced in 1995 that he would never implement only to be slapped on us when he was elected. (( AUSTRALIANS READ THIS 10x ))
We have had huge price increase in medical cost in bulk billing, our everyday food prices have gone up & under his government we are the highest tax payers in Australias history with a personal houseld debt of 138%. (( I REALLY FEEL FOR THIS ONE )) Howard talks about low interest rates yet the housing market is out of control and the everyday Australian cannot afford a mortgage. There a more renters in the market than ever before due to unrealistic housing prices. We have experienced huge travel tariffs & taxes unlike ever before. The list goes on. These are my concerns of Howard government and I think it's time for a change befoe it gets any worse. We have experienced so much turmoil under his Leadership and I have only touched the surface needless to say I have not mentioned the terrosim aspect nor The Governeor general debarcle where he tried to support the GG in the cover of the abuse of our children.
Seriously why are people overlooking these very important & real issues?" (( YEAH .. WHY???!!! ))

Ok this is my simple summary!!
* Howard increase HECS / UNIVERSITY fee (howard is so rich already, why is he still taking $ from us poor students? :( )
* Howard cut off medicare (previously, we can go to DOCTORS FOR FREE, now we CANT! bulk billing is drastically reduced .. =( australia.. WAKE UP!)
* Howard robbed 10% off from our pocket --> GST (this is really a DAYLIGHT ROBBERY!! also hurt lots of small businesses !! :( and yet we still 'praising' him) we dont benefit from this at all do we?
* Goods are all increasing in price like crazy....... Australia post has increase 10% of their fee in ONE YEAR! isnt that crazy!!! one box of papers, cost $3 before... now its $5 !!! (60% inflation in just 4 years,,, YEAH GOOD WORK)... all this are happening directly to US - the citizens.... why australians still dont get it ????
