Writing break.
I'm taking a break from writing fiction for the rest of the year. I'm going to spend the time when I would have been writing doing things around the house like cleaning the carpet, organizing, baking, and stuff like that.
Yesterday was officially Day One. I was in my kitchen from 10:30 am to 9:45 pm. In that time, I reorganized the cupboards; wiped down the walls, cupboards, and counters; cleaned out the toaster oven and the microwave; baked a cherry-chocolate custard pie, baked dinner rolls (to take for Thanksgiving tomorrow); and made three kinds of truffles (chocolate orange, chocolate mint, and rum). [I'll try to post pictures later.]
I've very sore from standing on a hard floor in my stockinged feet for so long. And I'm kind of sore all over just from the repetitious movement of scrubbing and mixing and crushing.
On today's kitchen agenda, I will bake herbed rolls (some with dill, some with chives) and carrot corn muffins. I also need to wipe down all the shelves in the refrigerator and sweep and mop the floor.
I'm not sure what I'll move on to after that. Both bathrooms need attention. And the laundry. Oh, the laundry!
Dwayne and I will likely set up for Christmas at some point during the long Thanksgiving weekend. I think I'll hold off on my office filing and reorganization until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Then we're having Jesse and Adrienne (and possibly another couple) over for dinner and Game Night on December 6th. Which means I'll need to get the carpet cleaned somewhere before then. And I'm still trying to decide what to cook!
