Just 19 and dream obscene with six months off for bad behaviour...
The long weekend is over, long because yesterday was a holiday, and funnily enough, all holidays are going to be celebrated on Monday from now on, no matter what they of the week they happen to be since the congress recently passed that stupid law that says so, useless crap considering all the things they really should be discussing... But in the end, it's not like people are still interested in the actual meaning of these days as long as they have their free day, ask anybody what we celebrated yesterday and half the people won't be able to answer you. I guess it's because people now have bigger things to worry about, but really, with the way this country is presented to the world, "land of values" and whatnot, it gets unsettling seeing how no one no longer give a damn for the people who fought past battles so we could have a frigging piece of land to live on peacefully... It's the hypocrisy of it what is truly irritating...
So, well, long weekend meant having everybody in the house full time, for the first since my brother got his job, and it showed, really, how differently these last few weeks have been. It's good to see that the house is not crowed now and then, 'cause confining is not always good *cough**cough* ^_^... but I must say that I missed the busyness of it somehow, it's nice to have everybody around, even if it can get annoying sometimes, but it doesn't matter, especially with my brother, we even played some more Pokémon, which we'll probably finish one day, and talked a lot, a normal without distractions talk that we haven't had the chance to have in a while. And it's funny how all this can keep you away from the computer, at least from being on it for long periods of time... but not my brother, he spent a lot of time in front of the monitor catching up with the university, he hasn't skipped lessons but he's fallen behind a bit... º_º.
And watched two movies between the weekend and yesterday. Ridley Scott's Matchstick Men, a film with a good beginning and an excellent development, that sadly is bogged down by the writers attempt of giving the film an ending on purely unnecessary plot twist, a shame considering how well the characters had been presented by then. But well enough, the first part of movie alone is worth watching, there's a great chemistry between the actors, Sam Rockwell is excellent, and it just shows what a great craftsman Scott is... And also finally saw About Schmidt, which was excellent, Alexander Payne has always taken risks with his movies by being completely honest with their characters, turning them into a love it or hate it affair. It's no different here, the film is bittersweet all over, though the ending is a pretty important and emotional one, and probably the best the film could've have. Even with that, there's also Jack Nicholson's best performance in ages, something to behold. And now I wished I would've seen Sideways.
Also: Episode III tickets are on sale now, I think it's the earliest pre-sale ever for a film in my country. It's gonna be huge, the movie looks good, and well, I'm just not buying tickets until my cousin and my brother confirm, in case they want to go see it./ Saw the trailer of War Of the Worlds, Steven is a genius, I can't wait!!!/ And finally, I read the news of Nicole Kidman making a film with Wong Kar-Wai, terrific! We'll finally be able to watch her under the lush lenses of Christopher Doyle, in full slow motion glory! Too bad that her name in a movie doesn't translate into good movie distribution, Birth was never released around here and Dogville took ages, and with Kar-Wai's filming ways... Hopefully we'll see it before 2007!
And on a bitter note, Cartoon Network is the devil, it got Foster's out of the air without notice or anything, WTF?? This is not a first from them, though. Now I know what all those Inuyasha fans felt...
