Love is a temple, love the higher law.
Ohhh, just when I thought that my "thing" with The Incredibles is fading, there's always something that comes and reminds me why I love that movie so deeply. Today a neighbor, one of the "good" ones, got me a cd with some U2 songs, One among them, and it reminded me so much of some of the stronger themes of the film. I would have been a much happier kid if I had seen this movie when I was younger, somehow it always fills me with hope regarding my family :)
And I admit it now, my brother would be laughing at my face saying "I told you so!", One is U2's best song ever, and while Lemon still has a special reserved place in my heart and top-ten lists, one has to agree with AMG's reviewer when she wrote: "One" is among U2's finest recordings, with its lyrical simplicity, heart-rending vocal delivery, and evocative instrumentation. Though, U2 has changed a lot since their 90's days, and I still have to say that now, they work better when Brian Eno is in charge.
Then, I spent a really nice day with mom, that I hope we can repeat again sometime. She invited me to hang out at the university campus where she's taking her exercises classes, it was pretty interesting all along since this was the first time I've ever been there, and she always told us how good that place is, and it was great to finally be there and find out that it truly is a good place to be. At first we were just going to pick up some logs she had put her eyes on since quite a while, but that she's never had the chance to bring home, but we ended up going down to check out the river, and yet picking up more stuff like rare-looking stones ^_^. There's when I wished that I had brought my camera since there were some really cute cows and some rather impressive looking buzzards that were flying around and that would come down to pose all majestically over the trees, the biggest birds of it's kind I've seen in a while. And, well, it was so fun, and just the fact of going out to some open space made it all worthy, since it's really been awhile. We couldn't bring all the logs we wanted so maybe that'd be a good excuse to repeat the excursion again. ^_^
On the other side of things, my brother's temporary/hours job comes to an end this Friday, I didn't know that, and I didn't realize that it was going to be for such a short time, it's kinda sad, but in the other hand, he seems so happy and accomplished of it that I think he doesn't mind, and probably this experience will make it easier for him to get a job again, hopefully for a longer term, if that's what he's looking for, but these two weeks have been interesting enough...
Finally, it's all because of the Full Monty that I've been listening to Serge Gainsbourg music lately. I didn't much about him before except for Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus, so listening to his other stuff has been a pretty surprising and amusing ride, especially for songs like Lemon Incest... lol, just to think of a song with such title. But really, all his excesses apart, he was such a good artist and intriguing person. Also, Mark Harvey's readings of his songs are well worth listening too, like when Gainsbourg version of Inceste De Citron is satirical, Harvey's is strangely touching... Really good stuff, really.
